Sail Away

Ahoy There!!

Sail AwayGood morning!!! It’s Sunday, and that means that it’s time for another challenge over at Come And Get It Challenges :)  We have a super fun theme this week, and it’s “Nautical”.  Our generous sponsor for the challenge is Papernest Dolls.

Our Badge

I was given Sailor Owen to work with for my DT project, and chose to go with the traditional red, white and navy color scheme.  After coloring the image with my SN markers, I cut a cloud shaped top, then inked in some clouds for a background.  I have been hoarding this nautical paper for a while, and this was the perfect card to use it on!! I just received this Memory Box die in the mail…talk about good timing!!  I layered it with a bit of cheesecloth, then grabbed on of the wooden anchor embellishments that I snagged at Michael’s in the $1.50 bins :)

Baby Bear

Baby Girl

Baby BearHi there :)  We have a new ATG challenge over at Creative Fingers, and the sponsor is the one and only Teddy Bo!!!

I was so excited when I received my May Teddy Bea02 image, and could hardly wait to color her up with my SN markers :)  The rest of the girls have made some amazing cards with their Teddy Bo images as well, so stop by the blog and be inspired!!  After coloring the image, I found some pink printed and pink glitter paper, a small piece of pink lace, and mauve ribbon, and lay everything out.  The sentiment was cut with a DoCraft die that I borrowed from a good friend.  I punched some stars to put in the corners to go with both the stars on one of the papers and the glittery paper.  I hope you make the time to enter a project at Creative Fingers….ATG, with a chance to win some adorable images :)

Knight in shining armor

Knight In Shining Armor

Knight in shining armorHello!! I’m so dreadfully behind with my blogging!! I guess it’s the next thing in my life I have to get organized…been doing pretty good with everything else I’ve got into a schedule of sorts :)

I made this for the current challenge over at C.R.A.F.T.  Our theme this time is Father’s Day/Male Cards. We have the fabulous  Dr. Digi House of Stamps

as the challenge sponsor, and will be choosing our Star of the Month, sponsored by Star Stampz :)

I was given The Dragon and the Knight, from Star Stampz to use on my card.  I colored the image with my SN markers, then dig around and found some bright papers to complete the layout, inspired by this sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

2 ribbon scraps and a sentiment that I tinted on the computer with the image finish the card off. The inside says “you’re my knight in shining armor”.  I hope you can join us this time at the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge with your male makes!

Can you believe it? CRAFT Challenge is already 8 years old. Originally started by Tracy from Just Tracy Crafts and with a DT mostly recruited from Trimcraft forum members (Hence the term CRAFT Challenge, which stood for Crafters Residing Are Friendly Trimmies. Or if you wished alternative meaning of Can’t Remember A Flipping Thing) on the 4th of May 2009.

We have now grown to be a large team of Design Team Members from all around the world, supplemented with several Guest Designers who join us for a month or a week at a time.

We have always welcomed all kinds of craft, not just paper craft (unless specifically stated so in the challenge at the time) and are happy to have such a large group of faithful followers.

So, how are we going to celebrate this milestone?

Well, how else can we celebrate than to have our yearly Blogaversary Blog Hop?

Congrat Feathers

Feather Congrats

Congrat FeathersI REALLY stepped out of my comfort zone with this card!! Not only does it not have a colored stamp on it, but it is CAS!!! This was partly out of necessity, as my printer was out of ink, and I wanted to get a card into a few challenges.  I recently purchased some new dies….the scribble is a Tim Holtz die, the feathers are some extremely inexpensive no name dies that I found on Amazon, and the sentiment is Tattered Lace .  I threw a few sequins on, and thought it really didn’t need anything else.  I really like the clean and classy look to this, and it will be nice to have a few wedding cards on hand for the summer :)

I would like to enter the following challenges with this:

Muddy Dad

#1 Dad

Muddy DadHi there!! Another week has flown by, and it’s time for another challenge at C.R.A.F.T.   This time, we’re having fun with 3D Decoupage.  Our fabulous sponsor is KennyK Stamps, so we got to rock it with these cool images.  I was given Cool Trucker to work with. After coloring (and coloring) with my SN markers, I fussy cut all the layers I needed. I positioned the image so it was driving out of a window cut into the background…embossed with a Spellbinders folder and inked with Distress Inks.  I cut the mud splat with a Tim Holtz die, added a few more random spots, then coated it with Glossy Accents. Dad and the road sign were cut with my Cricut.  Loving how this turned out….reminds me of quadding with the guys in my younger years :)

Mushroom Dragon

Cheerfully Spring :)

Hello!! It’s time for another challenge over at Come and Get It.  This time, we have a fairly easy theme…..Make It Square.  We have 2 sponsors, this time, and they are:

Oddball Art

and Star Stampz

Hope to see a lot of entries with the square shape :)

Mushroom Dragon

I used image #360 from Oddball Art….Tiny Kawaii Dragon on a Mushroom.  I figured it was time for something really bright and funky, and I remembered that I had the mushroom printed paper in my scrap file….it came from the very first paper pad that I ever purchased, so it is quite old…and I am quite forgetful, so I have no idea who it’s by!  I colored the image to coordinate with the paper, then lay everything out, using another scrap of paper from the same pad, a die cut flower from my stash, and then I die cut some mushrooms with a die from Cheery Lynn.  A quick stamped sentiment, some pink twine, and some of my homemade enamel like dots (from melted pony beads :) )  and the card was done!

Steampunk Box

Steampunk box 1

Well, I went through my craft room and found such a load of alterable items, that I decided to actually DO something with one of them!! I recently won the Steampunk Owl image from Aurora Wings, so figured it would be a great focal point for a steampunk trinket box.  The image is different that the ones I usually use from Aurora Wings, and I don’t do steampunk often, so this was a bit of a challenge for me.  I colored the image with my SN markers, adding a few metallic touches with gel pen; then I fussy cut it out.  I got realllllly messy preparing the box, painting, adding some pumice sand texture, stamping some metallic clock faces, then I dug out some metal accents, distressed them.  When everything was in place, the image seemed a bit bright, so I added a few drops of metallic black paint to my matte finish Mod Podge, and slathered it on.  I dabbed some copper and gold pigment ink on the high points of the pumice sand, then gave it another coat of plain Mod Podge to seal everything.  I love the rustic look of this box….I just wish that the photos showed all the detail better!

Pansy Dreamer

Pansy Fantasy

Pansy Dreamer

This image is the image that got me hooked on Aurora Wings images.  All of Mitzi’s images are fabulous, but this one just knocked me out, because it has the gorgeous pansies arranged around the beautiful woman.  Even given the fact that I loooove this image, I have owned it for quite some time now, and have been too scared to do anything with it, in case I “wrecked” it.  My brain didn’t take it a step further and get to the step of how I could print it again, and retry…..so there it sat!  Well, I finally got up the nerve, grabbed my Prismacolor pencils, and went to it.  I was seriously holding my breath for about  80% of the time that I was coloring!! I couldn’t decide on which pansy color combo to use, so I tried to do as many different ones as possible :)  I highlighted the bubbles and her eyes with some white gel pen.  After curling the corners a bit, I set to assembling the back drop of the card.  I embossed some Coordinations Kraft core paper with a Cuttlebug script embossing folder, and embossed a strip of vellum with a spellbinders folder.  I had a strip of the taupe lace, which I wove some gold cording through.  I used a Tonic Studio loopy fern leaf die, a Tattered Lace butterfly die, and some sprigs of blue flower things.  It needed a little something else, so I got out some frosted white adhesive gems, and colored them with my SN markers to look a bit more like the bubbles in the picture….then added a dot of white gel pen, because I’m just picky like that lol.  I’m thrilled with this card, and really think that I did this fabulous image justice. And I think it’s one that I’ll just keep!!

CU Dragon Dreams

Shhhhh!!

Dragon Dreams

CU Dragon Dreams

How cute is this little dragon!?!?! Sleeping so peacefully in his flower :) His name is Morpheus,  and the image is from Sheepski Designs.  I colored him up using my Prismacolor pencils, using colors to help get him in touch with his feminine side :) After fussy cutting the image out, I set about to make my first ever box card. I used scraps of checked paper, some punched border pieces, a few scraps of daisy trim and daisy flower embellishments to decorate the card. I cut a sentiment and some butterflies with my Cricut to finish this off. I was very happy that it all folded up nicely, too!! :)

I’d like to enter this in the following challenges:
