Steampunk Angus

Steampunk Dude

This card is for the latest ATG challenge at Creative Fingers.  We have the one and only Rick St. Dennis as our sponsor this time :)  We would love it if you could join us, and while you’re there, pop over to my teammate’s blogs to see their fabulous projects!!

I decided to challenge myself in a big way with this card.  The image, Angus MacPunque, from RSD has a lot of folds in his cape…..I’m still struggling with folds.  Added to that, it’s a male card, something that I shy away from much of the time – and Steampunk to boot!! Well, I love a good challenge, and I had a doozy of one with this card!  I colored Angus up with my SN markers, and was surprised at how well his cape turned out :)  I masked him off to do the background with some Distress inks, to give it an aged look.  I had the embossing folder that I used on the base for eons….one of those things that I just HAD to have, then never got around to using for 3 or 4 years!  I inked the raised parts to give the pattern a bit of definition.  I cut the gears with my Cricut, inked them a bit, then applied gilding flakes randomly.  I distressed the edges of everything but the gears, then inked them up.  A stamped sentiment, and it was time to assemble the card.  After a bit of wiggling around, I got it laid out so I was happy, then glued everything down.  I really think I pulled it off, with the vintage, monochromatic look – it goes nicely with the whole steampunk thing :)

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Simply Papercraft – ATG #22

That Craft Place – ATG

Lemon Shortbread – ATG #8

Cards and More – ATG

Art By MiRan – ATG #51

Crafter’s Cafe – #142 Monochromatic

  2. Susan, your card is fabulous! I always have troubles with the steampunk theme, but you’ve done a terrific job here. The image, the embossed background paper, the embellishments–they’re just perfect for the theme.
