Blast Off to a Birthday :)

Blast Off

OMG!! I totally had this card scheduled wrong :(

Hello, it’s time for a new challenge at CRAFT, where our theme is Add Ribbon and Sparkle :)  Our sponsors this time are

and

for Star of the Month:

Digital Delights

I’ve been given the adorable Birthday Alien Andy by Digital Delights to work with.  I colored him with my SN markers, then fussy cut him out and popped him on a sparkly die cut background that I wrapped a ribbon around and tied a stamped tag to.  Before placing it on the card blank, I used a couple small star outline stamps to cover the background, then filled them in silver glitter.

I’d like to enter this in the following challenges:

Whimsie Doodles - Masculine Makes

Aud Sentiments - #183 For a Child + a Sentiment

Send a Smile 4 Kids - Birthday Fun 4 Kids

Create and Inspire - #63 ATG with option of Tag, You’re It

Steampunk Dragonfly

Steampunk Dragonfly

Steampunk Dragonfly

Good morning!! I’ve had a few days off work, and am trying to catch up with my blogging – of course, I’m trying to catch up with everything else, so it’s a lot slower going than it should be!!  The card I have here features the image Steampunk Dragonfly by Ching-Chou Kuik.  It’s been some time since I’ve done anything steampunk, because, frankly, it scares me!! Lol.  I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils, adding some metallic accents on the gears and bolts of her outfit, and drawing in the crackly background.  After die/fussy cutting the image out, I matted it on a piece that I’d cut with some edging scissors to look like a big cog.  The  background uses a technique that I learned in grade 2 (I think…..it was a long time ago, as I’m turning 50 in a few weeks!)  We made pencil holders for our Dads for Fathers Day, using masking tape to cover the item…then it was a can, now its a piece of cereal box….then inking it to give it a faux leather look.  I’m allowed to use heat guns now, so I sprinkled some embossing powders on this to give it even more texture.  I added the chain pieces, some metal roses, and the gears to finish this off.  Here is a picture of the original Father’s Day project!

Mermaid Wishes

Mermaid Wishes

Mermaid WishesHi there!! I’m celebrating Canada Day by hiding in my apartment, crafting, while about 60,000 people party about a half a block away!!  I colored this image Ribbon Mermaid, from Aurora Wings, during the week at work….I love that I can do stuff like that at work, when it’s slow, because I certainly can’t seem to find time any other way!!  I took different color groupings of SN markers, and my trusty white and sparkle gel pens each day, and finally got this beauty finished!  I think the guys at work would look if I started dragging my other tools to work, so I assembled this at home :)  I die cut various foliage pieces, using Tim Holtz, Cottage Cuts and Savvy dies, and a sea horse with a Spellbinders die.  I love the look of  cheesecloth on a mermaid card, so draped a strip around the image.  I finished of with some shells cut with a Marianne die, a sentiment that was pre cut, and a smattering of pearls.  I love the colors on this card, they remind me of a summers day at the beach :)

I Do

I Do

I DoI am loving this sketch, from The Sketchy Challenges, so much, that I had to make ONE more card with it (doubt it will be the last one!!).

I used an image from Sweet Escapes, sadly I’m not seeing it in the shop any longer, but I’m so happy to have it, as it makes a lovely focal point for a wedding card!! After coloring the roses, I added some Wink of Stella to the bride’s dress, and some pearl jewellery.  I fussy cut the image out, the assembled the card, following the sketch, and using all kinds of scraps of paper that I had :)  The sentiment and the silver accents are from a sticker set that I recently dug up from deep in my stash, some pearls, and the silver edging on the panels are peel off strips.  It’s great to be a bit more prepared for the last minute wedding cards that people always seem to need!!

Little Sweetie

Sweet Little One

Little SweetieHello, today I have a card featuring the image Precious by Conie Fong.  This little sweetie captured my heart as soon as I saw her.  I’m busy making baby cards, and thought that this image would be perfect for an extra special baby girl card!! I colored her up with my Prismacolor pencils, then die/fussy cut her out and matted the image with a pink cardstock that coordinated with the background paper that I found in my stash…..how pretty are all those beautiful pink daisies??  I used the sketch from The Sketchy Challenges

as my guideline for a layout.  I pretty much stuck exactly to the sketch, using coordinating cardstocks, lattice panels that I cut with a Sizzix die, and adding some pretty pink daisies, that I added Flower Soft centres to.

Troll Smile

Troll Smiles

Good morning, it’s time for a new challenge at Come and Get It Challenges, where our theme is Fairies or Trolls.  We are sponsored by Sherri Baldy over at Besties.

Troll Smile

I used Scan 0019 for my card….such a cute little troll!! After coloring the image with my Prismacolors, I found some bright papers that seemed to go with the mood of the cutie.  I got the bright idea of fringing paper – and no, I do not have fringe scissors!!!  Originally it was only going to be the one color, but I just kept cutting away, as I like the layered fringe look :)  I still have a whack of my melted pony bead ‘enamel dots’, and come of the colors were perfectly bright for this design :)  I was stumped for a sentiment, or just that last little “something” – until I rummaged around and found this chipboard sentiment….that I’ve been waiting probably 10 years to use!!  It just goes to show that when you’re a crafter, saving things makes sense!!

Bear Babies

Baby Bears

Hi there!! I hope you are enjoying your summer!!  Today I have a card for you that I made for the current challenge at Creative Fingers.  This challenge, we are being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps

and Elvenstar Art

All of our challenges are ATG, so I hope you can join in the fun!!

Bear Babies

I was given the image  Teddy Bear Topper, by Bugaboo, to work with.  I’m running very short of baby girl cards, so I colored the bears, with my Prismacolors, in traditional “girly” colors.  I added the sentiment on my computer when I printed the image.  The image and sentiment pretty much say it all, so I went with a fairly simply design, using some coordinating stripe paper, and some baby die cuts, that I cut with a DoCraft die :)

Blissful Bunny

Butterfly Bunny

Good morning!! It’s Thursday, so that means it’s time for a brand new challenge over at C.R.A.F.T.  We have a super fun theme this week: Animals.  Time to get all those fuzzy butts onto cards, and enter :)  We are lucky to have 2 sponsors this time:

Blissful Bunny

I was given the adorable Butterfly Bunny, from All Dressed Up, to use for my card.  I colored the image with my SN markers, and am so happy that I managed to achieve the fuzzy look the way I did :)  I used the sketch at  The Sketchy Challenge

I have so many pretty scraps of printed paper, that this was the perfect sketch to utilize some of them!! The layout and patterns of the paper really made embellishments unnecessary,  as I think it could have easily got to be “too much”.  I added a sticker (!!!!) sentiment, and called this done :)

Level Up

Level Up!!

Level UpGood morning!! I had an order for a young man who was turning 14, and was crazy about video games.  I knew that KennyK Stamps had just the image, and before I could go and buy it, I won it on one of the many good-bye games they are having on their Facebook Group!  I did, however, manage to go a bit overboard on the budget that I’d set for myself when I went shopping….the sale is just too good, and it’s the last chance to get these images!!  I colored Boy Gamer up with my SN markers, and was sitting around trying to decide on layout, when I got a panic text, saying the birthday was the next day, not in a week, like she thought!!  Of course this was 15 minutes before company arrived!  I set into motion, FAST, the image was about 75% colored, so I finished,  found paper, started cutting and laying out! My company sat and laughed as I printed a sentiment on the computer, added a sticker number – that I added Glossy Accents to for dimension – and some silver adhesive balls.  I’m happy with how this turned out, especially since it’s one of the fastest cards I’ve ever made.  What’s more important, the recipient loved it, as well :)

Bee Goodbye

Bee in Blossom

Bee GoodbyeHello there!! There’s a brand new challenge over at the  Sheepski Designs Facebook group!! It’s ATG  as long as you use an image from Sheepski Designs.  Andrea has some gorgeous images, and I have a discount code for you, to help you with your shopping :)

SKISUSAN10

I have used Bumble Bee Blossom for my inspiration card.  I colored the image with SN markers  and did some fine detail accent work with a ultra fine point pen.  I made the background by stencilling the honeycomb pattern with embossing ink, then embossing with gold, inking with distress ink, randomly stamping a script stamp, then sprinkling some pink and white embossing powder over it all to give the impression of pollen :)  I layered the image on some gold, then a doily (which was the perfect pink….go figure!!), added some lace, ribbon and pearls….and finished with a small sentiment.  I love this image, and had so much fun making this card!! Hopefully, we will see you join us in the challenge….who knows, you may be one of the winners :)
