Be A Mermaid

Hello there 🙂 I’m thrilled to be able to tell you that I was asked to be a guest designer at Digi Doodle Studios Challenge Blog, for their 31st challenge, Something Black and/or Purple.

I chose to work with Amatheia Mermaid, one of some really cute mermaids (and lots of other images and goodies), that can be found at the Digi Doodle Studios shop. I colored her up with my Copics, then cut the image out with an oval die.

I layered her up, over multiple layers of black, purple, and polka dot papers, with some netting tucked in between a few of them. I die cut some “lacy” seashells from black and black shimmer papers, and made some pale purple flowers to match up with the ones in the image. After arranging all of this, I printed a sentiment on my computer and added it to the card after cutting it with a rounded end die. The finishing touch was a bunch of black and iridescent “pearls”. I loved making this card up, and hope that you can join in Digi Doodle Studios Black and/or Purple challenge!!! Thanks again for asking me to guest design <3

Sunflower Bouquet

Hello there 🙂 Overnight, it started to feel like fall here! From 29°C yesterday to 12°C today!! I am not ready for winter, and I’d like fall much better if I didnt know what it was a precursor of! This card is fitting for the season, though. I used a beautiful image from Power Poppy, from a digital set called Bring Home Some Sunflowers. I colored the image with my Copics, then fussy cut it out.

I decided to make a CAS slimline card. I die cut a frame, and layered it over the card base that I’d printed the sentiment on (part of the same set as the image). I filled in the word Sunshine with one of the Copic colors that I’d used on the flowers. I placed the image over the frame, with some of it overhanging. The card needed just a bit more, so I added a few enamel dots as finishing touches. I’m undecided whether this will be an encouragement or get well card, or just a notecard, so I left the inside blank for the time being.

Back to the Books

Hi there 🙂 I’m here with my last inspiration card this month, for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme this time around is Autumn/Fall and/or Fall/Autumn colors (that’s a lot of slash marks there, lol). I know that Fall is synonymous with Back to School for many people, and that’s the direction that I took with this card, using Lil Bookworm Fairy. I colored her up with my Copics, sticking with an autumnal color scheme.

After distressing and inking the edges of the image, I tore along the edges of an old book page, then inked it to give it an even more distressed look. I layered the image and book page on a warm red piece of cardstock, then added some flowers that were almost the same red and some die cut leaves. I finished off the card with a matted sentiment that I printed on my computer.

Glorious Geisha

Hi there 🙂 I was thrilled to be asked to be a Guest Designer at Arty Divas today. It’s a wonderful challenge ATG challenge blog with amazing inspiration from the design team. Thank you so much for inviting me to join you <3

I chose to use an image by Sheepski Designs, called Gorgeous Geisha, for my project. I picked my papers before I colored her up with my Copics, so I could match things up nicely.

I started layering the papers I’d picked out beforehand, and really wasn’t “feeling” the result, until I added the black border die cut and black mats. This really seemed to tie things together well. I die cut the asian inspired elements, the bird and the branch of blossoms with an assortment of different manufacturers dies, and arranged them on the card layers. To cut down on the starkness of the black border piece, I dabbed a paintbrush over a gold ink pad and lightly dusted it with the gold. Love the final result…and it’s flat, for easy mailing, which is an added bonus!!! Once again, I’d like to thank Arty Divas for asking me to guest design for them, and encourage you all to check out their fabulous blog!!

Hap-Bee Birthday

Hi there 🙂 I’ve been suffering a bit from Aurora Wings withdrawal lately, so took a gander at the store and found this little Honey Bee Sprite that surprisingly wasn’t in my collection yet! I colored him up with my Copics, adding some Wink of Stella to his wings and eyes, and some Glossy accents to the honey.

A octogon shaped card seemed perfect for this image, so I die cut a yellow card blank, then cut a grey piece slightly smaller. Before attaching the two, I cut 3 octogon windows, and framed them with black. I die cut a beehive piece, and layered it under the windows before gluing everything down. I stamped a sentiment, and cut it with a fishtail banner die. The bees buzzing around were stamped, then fussy cut out. I added a few flight trails with black fineliner, then popped the Sprite on the card with foam dots.

Fall’s Coming!

Hello! I’m a bit late with this post, as my usual day for posting my CCK inspiration is Sunday…….but….life. Our challenge theme at the Facebook group this month is Autumn/Fall and or Autumn/Fall Colors. I used the Deer Autumn image, and colored her up in the splendid colors of autumn with my Copics.

I die/fussy cut her out and layered her over an arrangement of die cut autumn leaves and branches. I made the berries with some Fimo clay. I placed everything on a background paper that had a subtle autumn leaf print, then added a stamped sentiment.

Dahlia

Hi there 🙂 This card is my first DT inspiration for this month, for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme for August is Autumn or Fall and/or the Colors of Autumn/Fall. I used the beautiful image Dahlia for my card, and colored her up with my Copics

Since I had the background paper picked out before coloring the image, I was able to coordinate the colors quite nicely. I cut the image out and matted it with some pretty shaped stacking dies that I have. I layered it over a stitched strip, then added a die cut sentiment….cut twice, to add a bit more dimension. Finally, I added the dahlia flowers that I made, by stacking and forming a number of die cut and punched shaped, and accenting the color with a few touches of Copic. I popped on some pearls, that I’d colored to coordinate, as the finishing touch.

Java Christmas

Hi there 🙂 When I saw this image at Ike’s Art, I just had to have it!!! It reminded me so much of my pup, Java!!! I colored him up with my Copics, to make a Christmas card for one of my kids.

I kept the design fairly simple, cutting the image out and putting it on a subtle print background paper. I die cut some pine branches and arranged them by the image, then used some red shimmer paper to cut some ornaments and the sentiment. I matted everything with the same shimmer paper to tie things together.

Summer Lovin’

Hi there 🙂 Today I’m sharing a fun summer birthday card, featuring a cute, summer loving rhino, by Crafting Desert Divas. It’s so sad that their shop closed down, as they had many cute images. I colored this guy with my Copics, then fussy cut him out.

I went with a wave shaped slimline card, to give the feeling of water movement. After cutting the base, I cut a piece of water drop printed paper for the rhino to float on. I die cut (and trimmed) a sun, some clouds and a cheerful birthday sentiment, and arranged the cuts to complete this fun scene.

La Catrina

Hello 🙂 It’s time for another ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We are on our summer schedule, so this challenge will last for the whole month, and there are two prizes, courtesy of Angelique, up for grabs. Check out the blog to see them!! I used this absolutely fabulous image, Dalia line art, from Myka Jelina Fairy Art. I colored her with my Copics, including a rich blue background.

Because of the intricacy of the image, I wanted to keep the rest of the card fairly simple. I chose a subtle print for a background paper, and added a die cut lace border, that I topped with some cool black trim. A cluster of flowers, tied with a black bow, and black matting throughout, leave the focus on the image.
