Trimming the Tree

Trim the Tree

Trimming the TreeHello there!!! It’s just starting to look like spring here, so that must mean that it’s time to make a Christmas card!! This week at C.R.A.F.T., our theme is just that, Christmas!  We have 2 amazing sponsors, Star Stampz and Digital Papercraft :)

I used Imagine Fairy Girl, from Digital Papercraft for my card.  She’s not really a Christmas image, but I saw her reaching to put a star on the tree as soon as I came across the image :)  I colored her with my SN markers, then glittered up her wings (of course….fairies need sparkle wings!)  I fussy cut her out, then die cut 2 trees, which I cut up and layered, then decorated with glitter.  I mounted them with foam pads on a die cut shape that I edged in doodles, and placed a glittery star in her hand.  I put this on a DP background, then found some coordinating ribbon to accent the corners.  A bow and a stamped sentiment finish this off :)

I’d like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge – #325 ATG with the option (I didn’t use the option) of no pattern paper

Retirement Tulips

Spring Retirement

Hello!! It’s hard to believe that it’s March already!! It came in like a lamb here in Saskatchewan, so I hope this month doesn’t like up to the whole “in like a lion, out like a lamb” and vice versa thing!  We have a new challenge over at the C.R.A.F.T. challenge blog today, and this time it’s a sketch challenge, using a sketch by our fabulous DT member Sheryl :)

It’s a very versatile sketch that can be interpreted quite a few ways, as you can see, if you check out the amazing creations that the DT has made this week!!  We have 2 sponsors for our challenge:

    and

And, seeing as how we are at the beginning of the month, it’s that time that we will be announcing our “Star of the Month”, which is sponsored by

Retirement TulipsI used a beautiful spring image from Sweet n’ Sassy for my card.  Nothing says spring quite like tulips do!!  I colored the image up with my SN markers.  The diagonal strip is a die cut, cut with a Memory Box die.  I added a little bee and some enamel dots, then stamped and embossed the sentiment.  Done!!  I hope you can stop by and have some fun with us, and try this sketch out!

I’d like to enter this into the following challenges:

Ruffle Your Feathers

Don’t Get Your Feathers Ruffled

Good morning!! It’s time for another challenge over at C.R.A.F.T.  Where does the time go?? It’s hard to believe that we’re already into February of this year!!  We will be choosing the “Star of the Month” over at C.R.A.F.T., and we have the fabulous Rick St. Dennis sponsoring us for the star.

Our challenge will be sponsored by the wonderful Crafty Ribbons

The team have used images by RSD, so be sure to check them out and leave some love :)

Our challenge this week is this inspiration picture:

so, whatever inspires you from this picture to get creative, use it!!! If it itsn’t really obvious where your inspiration comes from, make sure to let us know in your blog post :)

Ruffle Your FeathersI used the image Bird of Paradise, as I was obviously inspired by the bird :)  I was going to stick with the color scheme, but then all the pretty colored pencils started to call to me!! One word of advice, with detailed images such as the ones like this, don’t print them so small!!! I almost went blind coloring this lovely lady in!  After coloring her with my Prismacolors, and smuging some chalk in the background to ground her a bit, I moved on to the rest of the card.  I used a feather embossing folder on the bright green background, then wrapped some  sheer black ribbon around the card.  I tied a fluffy bow, and it needed “something” …… and I’m not one to put flowers on everything, so I muddled over it, and rummaged around until I found the bag of feathers that I got the beauties I used from.  A few black enamel dots (eep, almost out!!), and a stamped sentiment finish this card off :)

Over the Moon

Over The Moon

Hey there!! It’s time for a new challenge over at C.R.A.F.T.   Our theme is Love/Valentines/Anniversary this time around, and we have

All Dressed Up stamps sponsoring us.  Try to make some time to check out the LOVEly makes of my fellow DT members :)

Over the MoonI used the sweet Over the Moon image from the sponsor. I colored it with my Prismacolors, with touches of Wink of Stella on her dress and veil, then decided to use the background technique from the latest monthly pencil class over at Kit and Clowder. The colors are way different than what’s used in the class, but that’s the nice thing, the techniques can be applied to any project in any color.  The papers are some that I just purchased a while ago, when some of my friends and I went on a road trip to the only scrapbooking store in the area.  I took the metallic bits from the paper pattern, and used some gold mirror cardstock to mat everything and to cut the Mr. and Mrs. with my Cricut.  Some gold ribbon and a rose finish this card off…..the layout was inspired by this sketch:

over at Tuesday Morning Sketches :)

I would also like to enter this card into these challenges:

Christmas Bunny

Here we go with….A Christmas Card!!

Well, my 2016 resolution was to make Christmas cards all year, to avoid the rush close to the holidays (which I did, but some personal stuff caused a totally different kind of rush, and I never got any of my cards mailed!!)……it worked out so well, that I’m going to continue with this :)  Over at C.R.A.F.T. Challenge, we have a Christmas theme challenge every month, which keeps me on track.  That’s our challenge theme this week :)  Our fabulous sponsor is:

Christmas BunnyI used the adorable image “Christmas Tree Time“.  I colored the image up with my new Prismacolor pencils, then used 2 dies to cut out the wonky shape :)  The card base was cut with my Cricut, and after backing the trees with some glitter paper, I added a Joy (also cut with Cricut), and some stars to finish this off :)

I’d like to enter this card in the following challenges:

ABC Christmas Challenge – A is for ATG or B is for anything starting with B (blue, bunny, birds)

A Day For Daisies – January challenge – 2 or more layers

Hula Girl

Hula

Hello, and Happy New Year!!! My blog has been down and out for over a month, but hopefully all the issues are resolved now!!! Just in time for a brand new challenge over at C.R.A.F.T.!!  We’re starting the New Year with a fun recipe challenge :)

Our wonderful sponsor this week is

who have tons of adorable images to choose from!!

Hula GirlI’m using Hula Halina for my card.  I colored her up with my SN markers, adding some definition to the hair with an ultra fine point pen.  I found the bright summery hibiscus printed paper in my stash, and then matched it up with some bright stripes, from a completely different collection.  The three flowers were cut with my Cricut, and I added some sparkle to them before popping them up on some foam dots.  I hope you can join us, and make sure you check out the fabulous creations of the DT here.

Deer Friends

Deer Friends

Good morning!!! Today is the start of our new weekly challenge at C.R.A.F.T.  Our theme is Christmas, and since time is quickly passing, and before we know it, the day will be here, it’s a great time to link up a card or two :)  Our fabulous sponsors are:

The Paper Shelter   Oddball Art

 and

I used this beautiful image from The Paper Shelter, called Holy Night.

Deer Friends

I’ve had the image for a while now, and couldn’t decide what to do with it….then the idea of a monochromatic card came to me.  I colored the image with my SN markers, then added some embossed die cut trees, that I brushed with matching Distress Inks to give a bit of definition…before adding some twinkly embossing powder.  I stamped the background paper and embossed with the same embossing powder (a mix of white and tinsel)  A stamped sentiment, some ribbon, punched twigs and some embossed gems (same powder :)) finish this card off.  I’m so happy with this card, because it is very rare that I get a picture of something in my head, and the finished product matches!!

Frosty Wishes

Frosty Wishes

It’s been a while since I’ve done a post of any kind, as life has been throwing me a number of curve balls lately, and it’s been all I can do to keep my head above water!!  With that being said, I better get back into the groove of things, and start swimming again!!

Frosty Wishes

This card is for the latest challenge over at C.R.A.F.T.  with the theme being Wintertime.

 Our sponsors are

Star Stampz and Sweet N’ Sassy .

I used the adorable Light Up My Life image from Sweet N’ Sassy for my project.  I had the light bulb print paper left over from a Christmas stack, and took the color scheme from that, as I colored the image in with my SN markers.  I did a bit of inking around the edges, and added some sparkle for snow.  I used coordinating scraps from the same stack for the layout, added some die cut snowflakes, a bit more sparkle, and a sentiment that I cut with my Cricut.  I hope you can stop by the C.R.A.F.T. blog and check out the amazing projects my fellow DT members have created, and enter your own Winter project :)

I’d like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Fall Cupcake Box Top

Fall Cupcake Box

IMG_20161006_072259517Good morning!! Wow!! Have we had a pile of snow, here in Saskatchewan, Canada, the last few days!!!  I think we all thought the weather man was joking when a storm was forecast!! NOT!!! Oh well, that’s what we get, living where we do :/ It’s time for another challenge over at C.R.A.F.T. today.  We have a gorgeous inspiration picture for you this week.

There’s so much that can be taken from this rather simple picture, as you can see if you pop by the blog and see the DTs projects!!  We have two wonderful sponsors this week:

Fall Cupcake BoxFall Cupcake Box TopI was given the image Too Good to Eat Cakes, by All Dressed Up, to work with on my project. I was inspired by the colors, and the fall “feel” of the picture. It was quite the process with this, as my brain was all over the place, and I wasn’t satisfied with anything….  I colored the image with my SN markers, and wasn’t happy with the way they looked, so I went in with colored pencils to give some more depth….much better.  Then I messed around with the background, settling on a confetti background, which I worked on for way too long…..it looked pretty good, until I cut it out into a circle, and managed to make it look all wonky.  I tried about 52 card layouts, paper choices, embellie combos….nothing looked right….  I got the idea for a box and quickly printed up the template on kraft card…..I stamped some birthday words and a pattern on the lid and found a nice fall colored ribbon piece to accent it.  I had to fussy cut the cupcakes out of the background that took too long to do (lol)  before affixing it to the lid.  I’m so happy with how this FINALLY turned out, and plan to make some more little gift boxes to have on hand :)

Grateful

Grateful

Well, I guess it’s officially fall now!! The calendar does not lie :)  It’s also time for another challenge at C.R.A.F.T.  This time our theme is Autumn/Halloween/Thanksgiving.  That pretty much allows for anyone’s taste in cards :)  Of course, we have some super sponsors, and this time, they are:

  and

GratefulI was given the Long Tall Cattails image by DRS Designs.  I bounced around a few ideas in my head, but things really started coming together for my plans for this card when I saw this color combination over at

Cupcake Inspirations.

My orange color in my card looks way redder, thanks to the joys of photography :P  I printed the cattails up, and colored them black, to give them the silhouette effect.  I fussy cut them out, and covered them with Glossy Accents to give them some dimension and shine.  For the background, I played with one of my favorite background techniques, that I discovered a few years ago.  For this, you use some fusible webbing (from your sewing stash), I just used pieces of fusible hem tape.  I heated the paper enough for the web to adhere, then sprinkled embossing powder on it.  I did this multiple times, alternating dark purple, orange sparkle and forest green (actually called “Pond Scum”) embossing powders.  When the web and embossing powders are heated together, the web separates and makes some beautiful effects :)  I cut a window in this, matted it in a dark purple card stock, and layered it on a piece of black, which I had stamped and embossed the sentiment on in the orange embossing powder.  After adhering the cattails, I added a few black baubles for balance.
