Mermaid Wishes

Mermaid WishesHi there!! I’m celebrating Canada Day by hiding in my apartment, crafting, while about 60,000 people party about a half a block away!!  I colored this image Ribbon Mermaid, from Aurora Wings, during the week at work….I love that I can do stuff like that at work, when it’s slow, because I certainly can’t seem to find time any other way!!  I took different color groupings of SN markers, and my trusty white and sparkle gel pens each day, and finally got this beauty finished!  I think the guys at work would look if I started dragging my other tools to work, so I assembled this at home :)  I die cut various foliage pieces, using Tim Holtz, Cottage Cuts and Savvy dies, and a sea horse with a Spellbinders die.  I love the look of  cheesecloth on a mermaid card, so draped a strip around the image.  I finished of with some shells cut with a Marianne die, a sentiment that was pre cut, and a smattering of pearls.  I love the colors on this card, they remind me of a summers day at the beach :)

Bear Babies

Baby Bears

Hi there!! I hope you are enjoying your summer!!  Today I have a card for you that I made for the current challenge at Creative Fingers.  This challenge, we are being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps

and Elvenstar Art

All of our challenges are ATG, so I hope you can join in the fun!!

Bear Babies

I was given the image  Teddy Bear Topper, by Bugaboo, to work with.  I’m running very short of baby girl cards, so I colored the bears, with my Prismacolors, in traditional “girly” colors.  I added the sentiment on my computer when I printed the image.  The image and sentiment pretty much say it all, so I went with a fairly simply design, using some coordinating stripe paper, and some baby die cuts, that I cut with a DoCraft die :)

Snowmen Selfie

Snowmen Selfie

Snowmen SelfieGood morning!! I posted a sneaky peak of the image I used on this card a couple days ago, on Facebook.  Today is the day that you can pick up this adorable image as a FREEBIE, at Sheepski Designs Challenge Blog!!  Andrea is offering this as a freebie, to celebrate the 100th image that she’s created!! While you’re at the blog, check out the current challenge, Girlz Rule.  We all like sneaking a girl into our cards, every now and then ;)  If you use a Sheepski Designs image, and are the winner, or Top 3, your prize is bumped up by an extra image!  To help out with your shopping, here is a special discount code to use:

SKISUSAN10

I colored this image up with my Prismacolors, on gray Kraft paper (didn’t know there was such a thing, but there it was, at Michael’s!)  I framed it to look like a polaroid, and heat embossed a sentiment.  I tucked a few die cut snowflakes behind the picture, and used my white gel pen to make a scribbley edge, before mounting the whole thing on a blue card blank :)

Birthday Pug

Pug!!

Birthday PugHi there!! I’m so behind on my blog posts, and now I’m stuck trying to do them at work, on my phone!! The card I have for you here is my DT make for the current challenge at Creative Fingers. We are always ATG, and have fabulous sponsors….this time, it’s Winkwink Ink :)

Their images are adorable, so I hope you can find time to enter a project for a chance to win!

I used Playful Pug, and printed him off nice and big before coloring him with my SN markers and fussy cutting him out. I cut a number of balloons with a Cottage Cuts die – great way to use up some of the scraps I have on hand!! I tucked them around the pug, which I had placed on a card blank with a birthday sentiment cut with a die from Poppy Stamps.

Birthday Elegance

Twisted Elegance

Birthday EleganceHi there :) Today I have my first twisted easel card!! I don’t believe I haven’t made one before, as I love the look!  I used the stunning Camellia image from Aurora Wings, and colored it in my all time favorite color combination. I just purchased the lattice die, part of a set – Butterfly and Lattice – from Sizzix. I can tell that this die will be getting a lot of use!! I dug through my flowers, and didn’t have any that were the “right” shade of red, so I touched a few up with my markers :)  I arranged the flowers over a die cut fluorish by Cheery Lynn.  I wasn’t sure what to do for a sentiment, but came across the “enjoy” in my stash, and paired it up with the Happy Birthday, that I inherited from my mom’s stash when she died….the set that it comes from is probably close to 50 years old!!

Sail Away

Ahoy There!!

Sail AwayGood morning!!! It’s Sunday, and that means that it’s time for another challenge over at Come And Get It Challenges :)  We have a super fun theme this week, and it’s “Nautical”.  Our generous sponsor for the challenge is Papernest Dolls.

Our Badge

I was given Sailor Owen to work with for my DT project, and chose to go with the traditional red, white and navy color scheme.  After coloring the image with my SN markers, I cut a cloud shaped top, then inked in some clouds for a background.  I have been hoarding this nautical paper for a while, and this was the perfect card to use it on!! I just received this Memory Box die in the mail…talk about good timing!!  I layered it with a bit of cheesecloth, then grabbed on of the wooden anchor embellishments that I snagged at Michael’s in the $1.50 bins :)

Congrat Feathers

Feather Congrats

Congrat FeathersI REALLY stepped out of my comfort zone with this card!! Not only does it not have a colored stamp on it, but it is CAS!!! This was partly out of necessity, as my printer was out of ink, and I wanted to get a card into a few challenges.  I recently purchased some new dies….the scribble is a Tim Holtz die, the feathers are some extremely inexpensive no name dies that I found on Amazon, and the sentiment is Tattered Lace .  I threw a few sequins on, and thought it really didn’t need anything else.  I really like the clean and classy look to this, and it will be nice to have a few wedding cards on hand for the summer :)

Pansy Dreamer

Pansy Fantasy

Pansy Dreamer

This image is the image that got me hooked on Aurora Wings images.  All of Mitzi’s images are fabulous, but this one just knocked me out, because it has the gorgeous pansies arranged around the beautiful woman.  Even given the fact that I loooove this image, I have owned it for quite some time now, and have been too scared to do anything with it, in case I “wrecked” it.  My brain didn’t take it a step further and get to the step of how I could print it again, and retry…..so there it sat!  Well, I finally got up the nerve, grabbed my Prismacolor pencils, and went to it.  I was seriously holding my breath for about  80% of the time that I was coloring!! I couldn’t decide on which pansy color combo to use, so I tried to do as many different ones as possible :)  I highlighted the bubbles and her eyes with some white gel pen.  After curling the corners a bit, I set to assembling the back drop of the card.  I embossed some Coordinations Kraft core paper with a Cuttlebug script embossing folder, and embossed a strip of vellum with a spellbinders folder.  I had a strip of the taupe lace, which I wove some gold cording through.  I used a Tonic Studio loopy fern leaf die, a Tattered Lace butterfly die, and some sprigs of blue flower things.  It needed a little something else, so I got out some frosted white adhesive gems, and colored them with my SN markers to look a bit more like the bubbles in the picture….then added a dot of white gel pen, because I’m just picky like that lol.  I’m thrilled with this card, and really think that I did this fabulous image justice. And I think it’s one that I’ll just keep!!

Easter Crocus

Happy Easter

Easter Crocus

Here is the one and only “real” Easter card that I made this year.  It was a DT make over at Come and Get It Challenges, but my blog was acting up, and not letting me on….and my brain was functioning about as well!!  For that challenge, we were kindly sponsored by Polkadoodles, which is where I got this adorable image from, Crocus, from the Darling Bud collection.  I colored her up with my SN markers, then added more shading and definition with my Prismacolor pencils.  I lightly stenciled a background in with Distress Inks.  I had a brain lapse with the edge….was thinking I could  just cut an edge border with the die I was using…nope, lol.  I pieced the edge in, and quite like the result of my boo boo!! Tied a big fluffy bow, and added the sentiment and a bunch of pearl accents to finish this card off.  Another pastel project…..what is coming over me??

Message In A Bottle

Message In A Bottle

Message In A BottleHi there, and Happy Easter!! This is another card that I colored up in my “funk”…. I used one of the fabulous images from one of my very favorite artists, Ching Chou Kuik.  I really wish there were more hours in a day to work with her images!!! This image is Far Away Messages, and I love the thoughtful look on the mermaid’s face.  I colored her up with my SN markers, opting for a blue skin tone, rather than the normal people colored skin :)  I did the sky with my Prismacolor pencils.  When I was digging around my craft room, preparing to organize and sell all my stuff (too much stuff, and I lazy), I found some of the Smooch Accent Inks that I’ve have for forever and forgot about.  I used the pearl one to accent the strings of pearls.  For the background, I used an old map from an old encyclopedia (which is another story in itself, how I so recklessly crafted away a $1800 set of antique encyclopedias!), and tore and inked the edges with Distress Inks.  I added a strip of cheesecloth, and some sand textured paper at the bottom, before adding the image.  I used a number of dies, from Tim Holtz, Marianne, and Spellbinders, for the seaweed, shells and seahorse.  I got the Smooch inks out to give the shells a nice shimmer.  I have a ton of pearl strings, and this seemed to be the perfect card to string them on :)  I was drawn to the bottle in the image, so dug up a tiny bottle, took some parchment paper and stamped a tiny sentiment “Wishing You Happiness”, and tied it to the card with some twine.  I’m sooooo happy with this card…..not to mention thrilled that I decided to continue on with this crafting journey and not throw in the towel :)
