Coloring!

Just.A.Note
Hi there!!  My card today has been travelling the world for a while, en route to Australia.  I made this for Alyce at Kit and Clowder, as a thank you for all the support and encouragement that she gives to us Clowdies!!! The image is from KennyK Stamps, and can be found HERE.  I colored her up with my SN markers, then matted the image on some paper that matched her jacket.  I die cut some teal flourishes with a Couture Creations die, and added some flowers to coordinate with the rest of the card.  Everything was put on an backing paper that we embossed with a Darice embossing folder.  A bit of sparkly ribbon, some blingy centres for the flowers, white gel pen accents, and a stamped sentiment finish this card off :)

Hello there!! Today I have a card made with another gorgeous Aurora Wings image, Flower Ballerina .  I colored her with my Prismacolors, and when everything kept going well, my stress at screwing it up increased!! The detail in this beauty was almost too much for my old eyes! I managed to get it done, though, and set to assembling a card.  I thought the coloring was bad…..I can’t remember ever having so many issues putting a card together!! The papers I was intending on using just clashed terribly with the image colors, the dies I was going to use are lost in the mail somewhere, I didn’t have the flowers I wanted to use anymore…..blah blah.  I buckled down and got to work.  I die cut some sheer fabric out of a basic flower shaped die then heated the edges with my gun until they started to twist and curl….a bit of pink was added to the centers before I layered the flower shapes up with some pearl stamens.  I decided to go with some solid card stock instead of messing with the print that didn’t match, and added a few strips of cheesecloth, some pearls and pearl sprays.  Instead of matting the image, I punched one edge to bring some of the darker pink into the scheme of things.  I didn’t have a stamp for the sentiment I wanted, so I used 2.  I had to mask off some of the words, to leave the word “with”…..done that lots of times, what could be the problem???  Well, dummy me didn’t mask off the edge above and below the word, so right when I had everything all figured out, I had these 2 purple lines that weren’t supposed to be there!!! AAAARRRGGGHH!!  Love = heart :)  and some correction tape on the other boo boo.  I was glad to be finished, and extremely pleased with how it turned out, especially with all the issues I had.  I really think the finished product does justice to the beautiful image, and I hope the special lady who receives it loves it :)

Retirement Tulips

Spring Retirement

Hello!! It’s hard to believe that it’s March already!! It came in like a lamb here in Saskatchewan, so I hope this month doesn’t like up to the whole “in like a lion, out like a lamb” and vice versa thing!  We have a new challenge over at the C.R.A.F.T. challenge blog today, and this time it’s a sketch challenge, using a sketch by our fabulous DT member Sheryl :)

It’s a very versatile sketch that can be interpreted quite a few ways, as you can see, if you check out the amazing creations that the DT has made this week!!  We have 2 sponsors for our challenge:

    and

And, seeing as how we are at the beginning of the month, it’s that time that we will be announcing our “Star of the Month”, which is sponsored by

Retirement TulipsI used a beautiful spring image from Sweet n’ Sassy for my card.  Nothing says spring quite like tulips do!!  I colored the image up with my SN markers.  The diagonal strip is a die cut, cut with a Memory Box die.  I added a little bee and some enamel dots, then stamped and embossed the sentiment.  Done!!  I hope you can stop by and have some fun with us, and try this sketch out!

Hello!  Today I have this card that I made with this absolutely adorable image from Julia Spiri.  I colored her up using my Prismacolor pencils, then distressed the edges a bit. I’ve been trying to use some of the awesome stuff that I’ve been hoarding in my stash, and came across this leather look paper – so decided to give it a whirl on this card.  I added a few strips of lace, then found some leather cord to use as well. I dove into a flower jar and layered up some blossoms, which I added a gold pearl to each of the centres.  I found a little wooden ladybug and some adhesive metal squares to embellish the corners. Hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it :)

Flowers for You

Hey there :) Today, I have a card made with the gorgeous freebie that Conie Fong gave to celebrate her first anniversary at her Etsy Store :) It’s been a while since I’ve done a project in my favorite color combo, and I thought the red, black and white using this image would be very striking…I believe I’m right :) I colored the image with my SN markers, then rummaged through my scraps, because I knew I had to have something in the colors I was looking for. I was right!! And the big bonus was that the polka dot papers were scraps from the same pad :) To bring in a bit more red into the mix, I cut a border with my new die from Joy Crafts.  I added a bit of ribbon and a sentiment to finish this off.

Hydrangea Sprite

Hydrangea Heaven

Hydrangea SpriteWhen I saw the color combo for the them at the Aurora Wings Challenge, I knew that I had to participate! I love the purple green and gold colors of Mardi Gras!!  I was originally intending on doing  one of the pansy images I have up into a card, but I went shopping and found this beauty, and had to have her!! Big Eyed Hydrangea Sprite can be found here or here. I love shopping at the new Aurora Wings store, it’s so easy to get around!  I

I colored her up with my SN markers, and was so tickled with the finished result!! Let me tell you, I was holding my breath towards the end, hoping that I didn’t screw up!!  I found some shimmery gold card stock for the back, layered the image with a green scrap and a doily; then cut some light purple flourishes out with a die.  The bow and ribbon are actually 2 different ribbons, a sage green and a gold mesh.  Then I punched and punched and punched little flowers, that I added gold glitter centers to, and arranged around the image with some punched leaves.  A few gold dots and this card was finished!! :)

Gerberas

Celebrating…YOU

GerberasHi there!! Today, I have a card that I made for a special friend to celebrate her birthday…much like we celebrate the fact that she is a part of our lives <3  I used the gerbera daisies that came with the Kit and Clowder’s “Elements of Nature” class.  Some are colored with my SN markers, and the others are with my Prismacolors, but all with the same techniques :)  I fussy cut them out and set them aside while I did a watercolor wash on some paper, then added salt to give it some texture and design.  I printed a big birthday sentiment out on my computer and then cut it out with a nesting die.  I had a rubber stamp that was also a gerbera daisy, and used this to stamp and heat emboss the card black, for a cool, coordinating background.  After positioning everything, I die cut some leaves and scattered a few sequins for a bit of bling :)

I’d like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Hula Girl

Hula

Hello, and Happy New Year!!! My blog has been down and out for over a month, but hopefully all the issues are resolved now!!! Just in time for a brand new challenge over at C.R.A.F.T.!!  We’re starting the New Year with a fun recipe challenge :)

Our wonderful sponsor this week is

who have tons of adorable images to choose from!!

Hula GirlI’m using Hula Halina for my card.  I colored her up with my SN markers, adding some definition to the hair with an ultra fine point pen.  I found the bright summery hibiscus printed paper in my stash, and then matched it up with some bright stripes, from a completely different collection.  The three flowers were cut with my Cricut, and I added some sparkle to them before popping them up on some foam dots.  I hope you can join us, and make sure you check out the fabulous creations of the DT here.

Courtney's Kitties

More Kitties :)

Hello there!! I hope everyone had a great week, and is ready for the new challenge at Come and Get It Challenges :)  Our theme this week is Lots of Layers – a great way to use up scraps, I find.  The sponsor is

who have some fabulous images for the lucky winner to choose from.

Courtney's KittiesI used Cat/Kittens from our sponsor.  I’ve been practicing my fur coloring lately, and this was a great image to continue with :)  I used my Spectrum Noir markers, with a few touch up/accents with a very fine point Micron pen.  I work with a girl who loooooves kitties, and the color pink, so made this into a birthday card for her.  I die cut the backing of the cats from a pretty pink polka dot print, then found 2 other coordinating prints for some of the other layers. I stitched around the edges of these pieces to add a bit of definition.  Everything was matted on white card stock, which I edge distressed and inked.  The flowers were from my stash, as was the ribbon (I was going to go with MORE pink for the ribbon, but the lime green really popped, and coordinated well with the flowers).  I added some adhesive pearls to finish the card off.

Hello there!!! The weather is getting cooler….fall is fast approaching!  So better time to make a really spring/summery card?? :)  Our new challenge at Come and Get It Challenges is with the theme of Flowers, with two generous sponsors:

Please Join...    and

Flower GirlOne of the sponsors, My Besties, generously provided the image that I used on my card, found here.  I colored the adorable Cat Lady up with my SN markers, then paper pieced her dress and headband with some of the same floral paper that I used in the layout.  I had fun digging up as many flowery things as I could for this challenge :)  The papers were all scraps from some coordinating sheets, and the trim was found when I re-organized all my trims and ribbons :)  The layered blooms were also from supplies that have been laying around waiting to be used :)  I hope you can stop by and visit, check out the fabulous DT creations, and enter your own Flower creation, at Come and Get It this week!
