Class Act

I was so messed up for time here, with a long weekend, then I took a few days off from work, that I didn’t know what day it was!  When Angelique reminded me that a project was needed for the challenge, I was in a panic, because these images are NOT the ones you want to color in a hurry!! But I did, and am pleasantly surprised with how it turned out :)  I die cut some feathers with an unbranded die, then added them to a bunch of flowers atop a pretty bow.  I added a few pearl sprays, then punched the edge of the card with a Martha Stewart pansy border punch.  Not too bad for a rush job if I do say so myself, LOL.

I’d like to enter this in the following:

Beautiful Lily

Hi there!! There’s a new challenge at C.R.A.F.T. – and it’s one of my favorites: A Sketch Challenge :)

This sketch is created by our very own Aunty Sue, and it’s FABULOUS!!  Of course, we have a generous sponsor, and this time it’s

I hope you can join us for some sketchy fun this week!

Ciao

I was given the gorgeous Circle Lily to use for my project.  I colored it with my Prismacolor pencils to match one of the lilies that my neighbor has in her incredible lily patch…..I thought the colors were so unique, that I had to give it a shot.  I die/fussy cut the image out and then set to laying the rest of the card out.  I used a border embossing folder to create the vertical element, edging it with some ribbon that miraculously matched the lily!! A strip of lace and a LDRS stamped sentiment made up the other elements.  Since I edged the circle and the sentiment piece with some sparkly gel pen (which, of course doesn’t show in the pic), I added some sparkle balls to balance everything out :)

I’d like to enter this in the following challenges:

Dream Valley – #159 Bling, Lace and Ribbon

Little Sweetie

Sweet Little One

Little SweetieHello, today I have a card featuring the image Precious by Conie Fong.  This little sweetie captured my heart as soon as I saw her.  I’m busy making baby cards, and thought that this image would be perfect for an extra special baby girl card!! I colored her up with my Prismacolor pencils, then die/fussy cut her out and matted the image with a pink cardstock that coordinated with the background paper that I found in my stash…..how pretty are all those beautiful pink daisies??  I used the sketch from The Sketchy Challenges

as my guideline for a layout.  I pretty much stuck exactly to the sketch, using coordinating cardstocks, lattice panels that I cut with a Sizzix die, and adding some pretty pink daisies, that I added Flower Soft centres to.

Floral Mask

Mask of Flowers

Floral MaskI fell in love with this image from Aurora Wings a while back, and finally got around to coloring it :)  The image is called Floral Masquerade, and I colored it with my SN markers, all the while holding my breath, because of the detail! I was so happy with the finished product, that I wanted to have a very simple card design, so the image could truly shine through.  I took 3 pieces of different gray and black card stock, and tore frames into them, then layered them over the image.  A big antique gold bow and some metal embellishments were all this fabulous image needed :)

Smile!

Smile!

Smile!Hello!! I won this image on last month’s Club KennyK Facebook challenge, and just loooove it!! Retro Selfie is so sassy, but I just had to give her a vintage look when I chose my color palette.  I colored the image with my Prismacolors, then went to work assembling the card. The background paper is from a stack that was a magazine freebie a few years ago. I immediately thought of the film strip tape from Tim Holtz when I saw this image, as well as the die cut film strip that I had for ages. I didn’t have any pink roses in the shade I wanted, so I made these using a punch and paired them up with an off white rose from my stash and some gold fern leaves that I die cut with a Frantic Stamper die. It needed something more, so I coated some wire with Flower Soft, twisted it up, and added a few sprigs here and there. I stamped and embossed a gold “smile” sentiment, then stamped over it with black for a shadow effect.

I’d like to enter this into the following challenges:

Birthday Elegance

Twisted Elegance

Birthday EleganceHi there :) Today I have my first twisted easel card!! I don’t believe I haven’t made one before, as I love the look!  I used the stunning Camellia image from Aurora Wings, and colored it in my all time favorite color combination. I just purchased the lattice die, part of a set – Butterfly and Lattice – from Sizzix. I can tell that this die will be getting a lot of use!! I dug through my flowers, and didn’t have any that were the “right” shade of red, so I touched a few up with my markers :)  I arranged the flowers over a die cut fluorish by Cheery Lynn.  I wasn’t sure what to do for a sentiment, but came across the “enjoy” in my stash, and paired it up with the Happy Birthday, that I inherited from my mom’s stash when she died….the set that it comes from is probably close to 50 years old!!

I’d like to enter the following challenges with this card:

Mermaid Fantasy

Mermaid Fantasy

Mermaid FantasyI simply love mermaids, and Ching Chou Kuiks are some of my all time favorites!! So, with the challenge theme over at the Ching Chou Kuik Inspiration and Challenge Blog being Under the Sea, I just HAD to do another card up :)  For this card, I used Embrace the Ocean.  I was inspired by the cool tones of the color picture of this image in the store, so gave it a go to see what I could come up with.  I used my Prismacolor pencils for this, in tones of blue, purples and greys and enhanced the pearls with tiny bits of Stickles.  I’m not happy with how the colors show up on my picture, but it was taken in natural light, and I kept snapping away until my battery died :)  Anyways….I found a pretty DP for the background, and tore some fiber-y paper up to serve as a back drop for the image.  I cut the anchor and the waves with my Cricut, and topped the waves with Stickles as well.  I had the adhesive lace border kicking around in my stash for ages.  I tried a bunch of different colored ribbon, but figured that navy would be the best….and of course I didn’t have one speck of navy ribbon!!  I rummaged through my closet, and scored!! You know those ribbons on the inside of women’s tops??? Some very cool colors in there….and navy was the coolest color for today!!  Silver roses, some mauve and white flowers with blue pearl centres, glitzy mesh….stuff….from my flower arranging days (oh my, I have soooo much stuff that isn’t even related to cardmaking!!), and a silver seashell charm finished my card off just the way I wanted :)

Easter Crocus

Happy Easter

Easter Crocus

Here is the one and only “real” Easter card that I made this year.  It was a DT make over at Come and Get It Challenges, but my blog was acting up, and not letting me on….and my brain was functioning about as well!!  For that challenge, we were kindly sponsored by Polkadoodles, which is where I got this adorable image from, Crocus, from the Darling Bud collection.  I colored her up with my SN markers, then added more shading and definition with my Prismacolor pencils.  I lightly stenciled a background in with Distress Inks.  I had a brain lapse with the edge….was thinking I could  just cut an edge border with the die I was using…nope, lol.  I pieced the edge in, and quite like the result of my boo boo!! Tied a big fluffy bow, and added the sentiment and a bunch of pearl accents to finish this card off.  Another pastel project…..what is coming over me??

Lovely Lilacs

Lovely Lilacs

Lovely LilacsGood morning :)  Here is a card I made with a beautiful lilac image from Aurora Wings.  Aurora Wings Challenge is currently having a sketch challenge, based on this sketch:

AW challenge 46 sketch

I colored the image up with Prismacolors, then layered it up with a doily.  For the background, I stamped some script with white ink, and a swirly corner stamp was used with silver ink in the corner. Pieces of DP, matted with Silver mirror card were used for the other background elements.  I added ribbon, eyelet lace and some silver blings to finish the card according to the sketch guidelines.
