Butterfly Hugs

Butterfly Hugs

Butterfly HugsI was cleaning in my craft room the other day, and just realized the sheer magnitude of all the stuff that I – a. Never use   b. Forgot I had  c. Am saving for the right project

I’m going to attempt to use some of it…Bit by bit :) I’m not sure if I ever used these Kaiser Craft stamps before, but they are beautiful!! I stamped and embossed them, then cut them out with a Nelly Snellen circle die.  I got a HUGE pack of black and white paper a few years ago…Many coordinating prints that I’ve turned to once in a while, but not as often as the package size warrants!  I cut a few circles out of a few of the patterns, then stamped and embossed a small LDRS sentiment on another plain circle.  After gluing them down on the background paper, I saw that some definition was needed!  As it was too late to mat them, I used 2 different size dies to make frames for each circle :) This was all the card needed.  As CAS as I get!!

I’d like to enter these challenges with this card:

Pattie’s Creations – #132 Anything With Wings

50 and Fab

50 and Fabulous

Good morning!! Today, I have a card made with one of KennyK’s fabulous images. Foxy Mama can be found here.  I’ve entered it into the February challenge on the KennyK Facebook Group. Anyone that enters their ATG challenge qualifies to receive this month’s freebie…”Scarlett West“.

50 and Fab

I colored this image with my SN markers, then started having fun with my new star border die, from Frantic Stamper.  I did the inlaid die cut technique, using Silver mirror and glitter papers. For the sentiment, I used my Paisley and Chalkboard Fonts (I think) Cricut cartridges. I sprinkled a few of the leftover stars around for some extra zing.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Through the Craft Room Door – ATG week of Feb 21

Gerberas

Celebrating…YOU

GerberasHi there!! Today, I have a card that I made for a special friend to celebrate her birthday…much like we celebrate the fact that she is a part of our lives <3  I used the gerbera daisies that came with the Kit and Clowder’s “Elements of Nature” class.  Some are colored with my SN markers, and the others are with my Prismacolors, but all with the same techniques :)  I fussy cut them out and set them aside while I did a watercolor wash on some paper, then added salt to give it some texture and design.  I printed a big birthday sentiment out on my computer and then cut it out with a nesting die.  I had a rubber stamp that was also a gerbera daisy, and used this to stamp and heat emboss the card black, for a cool, coordinating background.  After positioning everything, I die cut some leaves and scattered a few sequins for a bit of bling :)

I’d like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Digi Choosday – Week 4 ATG

Simon Wednesday Challenge – ATG

Deer Friends

Good morning!!! Today is the start of our new weekly challenge at C.R.A.F.T.  Our theme is Christmas, and since time is quickly passing, and before we know it, the day will be here, it’s a great time to link up a card or two :)  Our fabulous sponsors are:

 and

I used this beautiful image from The Paper Shelter, called Holy Night.

Deer Friends

I’ve had the image for a while now, and couldn’t decide what to do with it….then the idea of a monochromatic card came to me.  I colored the image with my SN markers, then added some embossed die cut trees, that I brushed with matching Distress Inks to give a bit of definition…before adding some twinkly embossing powder.  I stamped the background paper and embossed with the same embossing powder (a mix of white and tinsel)  A stamped sentiment, some ribbon, punched twigs and some embossed gems (same powder :)) finish this card off.  I’m so happy with this card, because it is very rare that I get a picture of something in my head, and the finished product matches!!

Silver bird

Silver Bird

Hi there!  Apparently, I forgot to post this….it’s been “one of those weeks”- but the difficulties I’ve been having with a person at work resolved itself in a HUGE bit of karma!  :)

Anyway, this is my card for the current challenge over at

As the badge says, the theme is Holiday, where any of your holiday makes qualify for an entry…..an this can be any Holiday that you may celebrate :) We have

as our wonderful sponsor this week, offering 2 digital images to a lucky winner.  Stop by to be inspired by my amazing DT team mates!

Silver birdI made a quick card, using some old stamps from Inkadinkadoo.  I stamped and  heat embossed the bird and sentiment in silver.  These were some of the first Christmas stamps that I purchased years and years ago :)  I then masked it off, and inked the sides with Dusty Concord and Peacock Feathers Distress inks.  I added some purple, teal and silver sequins, and matted it all with a silver shimmer card stock.

Well, I guess it’s officially fall now!! The calendar does not lie :)  It’s also time for another challenge at C.R.A.F.T.  This time our theme is Autumn/Halloween/Thanksgiving.  That pretty much allows for anyone’s taste in cards :)  Of course, we have some super sponsors, and this time, they are:

  and

GratefulI was given the Long Tall Cattails image by DRS Designs.  I bounced around a few ideas in my head, but things really started coming together for my plans for this card when I saw this color combination over at

Cupcake Inspirations.

My orange color in my card looks way redder, thanks to the joys of photography :P  I printed the cattails up, and colored them black, to give them the silhouette effect.  I fussy cut them out, and covered them with Glossy Accents to give them some dimension and shine.  For the background, I played with one of my favorite background techniques, that I discovered a few years ago.  For this, you use some fusible webbing (from your sewing stash), I just used pieces of fusible hem tape.  I heated the paper enough for the web to adhere, then sprinkled embossing powder on it.  I did this multiple times, alternating dark purple, orange sparkle and forest green (actually called “Pond Scum”) embossing powders.  When the web and embossing powders are heated together, the web separates and makes some beautiful effects :)  I cut a window in this, matted it in a dark purple card stock, and layered it on a piece of black, which I had stamped and embossed the sentiment on in the orange embossing powder.  After adhering the cattails, I added a few black baubles for balance.

Butterfly Get Well Card

get well

I made this card for a dear friend of mine who is stuck in the hospital. She likes different techniques, so I had a bit of fun with it. I stamped an Inkadinkado butterfly image 6 times on acetate, then carefully heat embossed 3 of the images with pearl embossing powder, and 3 with gold embossing powder. Then I cut them out and layered one of each if the colors, bending the wings for added dimension. The background is chocolate brown card stock, which I heated, then attached strips of fusible hem tape to. I heated the hem tape, t hen sprinkled gold and pearl embossing powders on, and heated again. I love the look of molten metal this technique gives. I uses some Jolees vellum and paper flowers, which I dressed up with gold bling in the centers. To finish off, I punched a bunch of tiny pink flowers, inked the edges of the card with gold ink, and added a piece of the embossed background to the inside of the card so it would peek through on the front.  I realize that this card meets the criteria for the Bingo challenge on the Butterfly Challenge blog. I used the middle horizontal line of the bingo card pictured below.
