OMG

Hi there 🙂 Well, it’s been awhile, but summer has thrown even more at me, and I’ve been dealing with that, and not in the mood for blogging. Another restart!!! I have a co-worker that’s getting up there in years (aren’t we all!), but he has a fantastic sense of humor. I had him in mind when I made this card, featuring a bunch of candles from the Lili of the Valley Candles Stamp Set. I merged 3 of the big groupings together so they fit a slim line card shape, and also printed off some of the “extras”. I colored them with my Prismacolor pencils, then fussy cut the extra candle shapes, and popped them up here and there with some adhesive foam.

I added some gold sparkles to the flames of the popped up candles. I had printed a part of the sentiment when I did the candles, and after everything was colored and assembled, I added a die cut sentiment, that I also popped up with foam. Hopefully this card will bring a smile to an extra special co-worker 🙂

Merry Mice

Hi there 🙂 I kept going with the whole Christmas in July thing, and made this card up. This is an adorable image from Di’s Digital Stamps (although ALL her images are adorable!). I colored these sweeties up with my Copics, adding a few accents with white Posca.

I messed around with a few different layouts, before deciding on trying something new. I don’t know what this kind of card is called, but it’s a fun card type for larger images.

After getting the card base assembled, I layered on some red and white paper that I’ve had lying around for years. I centered the image on the inside of the card, so it shows through, then added an inlaid die cut sentiment and some sprigs of holly to the front piece. A few white enamel dots and some red gemstone “berries” finish this card off.

Brunches of Wishes

Hi there 🙂 This was an extremely fun – and challenging – card to make. My kid’s boyfriend was approaching, and when I asked for card ideas, I was told: “His favorite color is green, he likes to cook and eat, but his favorite is breakfast – he even has a tattoo of bacon and eggs. Oh, and he likes rainbows….not the arch kind…the prism kind.” This little speech was accompanied by an evil gleam in the eye, lol. Challenge accepted!!!!! First thing was to find some cute breakfast-y images, and I really scored at Terevela Design on Etsy!! I chose to use the Kawaii Breakfast set, because they were just too darn cute with their little faces! I picked out a few of the characters, then colored them up with my Copics and fussy cut them out. I’d been thinking about making him a shaker card before hearing the “requirement” list, but I was not deterred!! I brought out some of my Fimo, and made up some little breakfast shaker elements 🙂 I made the sun into the shaker element, and positioned everything on the green (of course) card base. The sentiment was printed on my computer, and leads into the inside of the card….

I love how this all came together, and was pleased to hear that he absolutely loved the card 🙂

Celebrate!

Hi there 🙂 I needed a festive birthday card, and reached for this amazing image from Power Poppy. I used the no line version in the Cuppa Cupcake set, and colored it with my Copics. I had the background papers picked out and a general idea of what I wanted to do, do I was able to color in the background of the image to match the papers, and give the glass an even more transparent look.

I cut a number of streamers out of coordinating colors of scrap paper, and a shiny “celebrate” with a Paper Rose die. A few silver sequins finish off this fun and festive card.

Birthday At the Beach

Hi there 🙂 With the beautiful summer weather that we’ve been having, I just had to do a summery card!! This image from Bugaboo stamps fit the bill perfectly 🙂 I had fun coloring JJ up, using a whole rainbow of Copic colors – a great way to “test” seldom used markers to make sure they aren’t drying up!

I had the perfect background paper to go with the rainbow colors in the image. I die cut the sentiment in the image piece, so the striped paper would show through the negative part. I added a couple summer drink brads, and a squiggly strip of white to finish this card off 🙂

Good Luck

Hi there 🙂 I just got an order for a card for a person leaving their job to pursue other interests. Wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t have any that would be “right” in my stash!! So, I made this quick card, featuring an image from Crafty Moments. The group of birds was perfect for this card, I thought, as it was from a group of co-workers 🙂 Although there hasn’t been any new posts for years, the blog is still alive, and there’s some cute freebie images there 🙂 I colored up the birds with my Copics, and added a cloud background. A quick run of an ink pad around the image, and some matting had it all ready to adhere to the backing. I die cut the sentiment twice and popped it on the card.

Falala

Hi there 🙂 It’s hard to believe that July is drawing to a close soon!! At least I’ve managed to get a few Christmas in July cards done, although not nearly as many as I wanted to! I used an adorable image from Mo’s Digital Pencil for this card. I colored up Singing Elf Flynn with my Copics, then fussy cut him out.

I wanted to use a musical theme with this card, so dug around and found a piece of a page from an old book of music. I trimmed it into shape with a slimline die, then took a closer look at the words…lol….not Christmas! Well, being stubborn, and never wanting to throw things out, I got out some of my seldomly used sprays and gave the piece a few quick squirts to disguise the words. I went through my scrap drawer, and discovered 2 things. 1. I had no scraps of blue to match the image. 2. I have tons and tons of white scraps from trimming the card bases I make!! I took a handful of these white scraps, and cut out the sentiment and a bunch of snowflakes. I then colored the shadow part of the sentiment with one of the same markers that I used on the image…..tada! perfect match 🙂 I was laying things out, and the words were still bugging me (tbh, they still are, but oh well). I found a small snowflake stamp, and stamped and embossed the background in some random places, to disguise the words even more. I glued down little Flynn, then positioned the sentiment and die cut snowflakes. A teeny bit of sparkle on the snowflakes and a blue mat (colored with Copics) finish this card off.

Birthday in Monochrome

Hi there 🙂 I was thrilled to be asked to be Guest Designer at Coloring With Pencils Challenge this month. I was given an image from one of their sponsors, Color of Love, to make my card with. I decided to use a monochrome palette to color Garden of Eden Enchantress with my Prismacolor Pencils. After finishing the image, I added a backround with pencils and a stencil, then distressed the edges.

I found some coordinating pieces of gray and black CS, distressed the edges, then layered them on the card base with a piece of black lace. After adhering the image, I added a cluster of black and white roses, some black leather leaves and some black baubles. The small stamped sentiment was the final touch for this card.

I’d like to thank the team at Coloring With Pencils for inviting me to join them this month as GDT!!!

The Sweet Things

Hi there 🙂 I made this card featuring the sweet image, Macaron Friends, from Graciellie Designs. I think it was inspired by binge watching all the Great Bake-Off shows (UK, American, Canadian…..so far, lol). I colored the image up with my Copics, then fussy cut them out.

I love the sentiment that came with this digital set, and messed around with a number of ideas on how I could come up with a layout that let both the image and the sentiment shine. Although this window gatefold was no the initial idea, I kept at it, after making a few boo boos, lol.

I added a stitching effect with my white Posca, then scattered some enamel dots for a bit of embellishment 🙂

Bauble Wreath

Hi there 🙂 With all the Christmas in July stuff going on, I figured there was no better time to add to my stash of holiday cards! I made up this CAS card using an image from Pattie’s Creations. I colored up Christmas Wreath with my Copics and added a few highlights with my white Posca pen.

After matting the image in green, I placed it on a background embossed with circles, to reflect the shape of the baubles in the wreath. A quick die cut sentiment, and more green matting finish this card off 🙂
