Amethyst Lily

Hello there 🙂 It was my bestie’s birthday the other day. Her favorite color is purple, and fave flower is a lily. In fact, her blog and Etsy shop take from these 2 favorites, and are called Amethyst Lily Designs 🙂 So…..I thought it would be a good bet that she’d like a birthday card implementing this 🙂 I used one of the gorgeous images from Power Poppy’s Alluring Lily digital stamp set. I colored it with my Copics, then fussy cut it out.

I wanted to keep this beautiful bloom the focal point of the card, so I stuck with a CAS design. I stamped and heat embossed a design from Technique Tuesday, with clear ink and powder, on the background, to give a bit of subtle elegance. The narrow mat and die cut sentiment are a black shimmer card stock. A few white sequins embellish the card, without detracting from the overall design.

Pumpkin Patch

Hi there:) Well, we got a few flurries of snow last night, nothing to last, but I guess it really IS fall! It’s time to share my second DT inspiration card for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook Challenge. Our theme this month is Halloween Colors/Pumpkins/Halloween. I did the colors last week, so this week it’s time to feature pumpkins 🙂 I used a gorgeous image from the Hello Autumn set. I colored it up with my Copics, then set it aside, while I worked on the rest of the card.

I decided to go with a side stepper card. I didn’t have any plain pumpkin dies, but I have stamps!! I stamped a number of them, embossed them, then colored them to match the pumpkins in the image. I die cut 2 lacy frames and inked them lightly with gold. I used the larger one for a frame for the image, and the other as a base for the stamped and embossed sentiment. After attaching these to the base, I fussy cut the pumpkins and arranged them to make a pumpkin patch.

The Smell of Death

Hello 🙂 We’re about 2/3 of the way through the October ATG (old or new, full projects, or just coloring) challenge at the Aurora Wings Facebook group. We love to see your Aurora Wings creations and coloring, so please pop by and share!! For my inspiration this month, I wanted to do something a bit creepy/spooky, so chose one of Mitzi’s images that isn’t used a whole lot. Corpse Flower Sprite fit the bill perfectly!! I colored it up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out.

I die cut a tag, then blended Distress Inks that coordinated with the image. A few spritzed of water provided a bit more oomph. I looked through my *extensive* stash for some flies….but it was a no go 🙁 So….I drew some to hover around the image 🙂 I embossed the wings, to give them a more realistic look. For the “fumes” that this flower emits, I first embossed some squiggles with glow in the dark embossing powder, then added some definition with a black fine liner.

Glow in the dark smellies!!

Initially, I hand lettered the sentiment. I really shouldn’t do that!! It was awful! So I carefully removed the Sprite, and redid the tag! I printed the sentiment on some clear adhesive paper, and attached it to the (new) tag. Much, MUCH better!!! Some purple and black crinkle ribbon from DL Art completed this project 🙂

Christmas Wreath

Hello there 🙂 Time seems to be flying by this year….and considering what 2020 has brought to the world, that might be a good thing!! With Christmas fast approaching, I definitely have to keep at it with my Christmas cards! I love seeing all the different styles of wreaths as the season approaches. The old fashioned, traditional me was immediately drawn to this Cheery Christmas wreath, from Gracielle Designs. I merged one of the sentiments from the set into the middle of the wreath, and printed it off card size. I colored it up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out. Such a simple design, but oh so striking!

Birthday Bear

Hi there! Today, I have a card to share that’s in my favorite color combo, and features an adorable image from Digi Doodle Studios 🙂 I made it for my “adopted” daughter, who has been my Kiddo Bear for about 13 years <3 She loves pandas, so when I saw these Panda Love Pairables, I had to get them! I colored one of the sweet bears up with my Copics, then fussy cut him out.

I choose some patterned papers that coordinated, then got to die cutting! First, I cut out the base, then used some 2″ letter dies to cut the word “happy”. I cut a contrasting red set, to use as a shadow. I printed the image on my computer, then cut it with a banner. I used the red for another banner cut. I love how the red really makes everything pop 🙂 A few dots with dimensional paint in the corners finish this card off.

Hydrangea Zing

Hi there, and Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends 🙂 Today, I have my first inspiration card for this month’s Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. Our theme for October is Halloween/Halloween Colors/Pumpkins. I used Copics in the Halloween colors for this card, using the lovely image Luxury Purple.

I find that this palette gives a somewhat unexpected zing to such a feminine image! I chose the background paper from a Halloween paper pad that I have in my stash, then layered the image with a die cut lace border, edged in black ribbon. I stamped the sentiment, then cut it with a fishtail banner die. For the flowers, which mirror the blossoms in the image, I used an old Martha Stewart punch, and arranged them over some die cut leaves.

Trick or Treat

Hello there 🙂 I’m enjoying a few extra days off over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, so have some extra time to be crafty. Whimsy Stamps has an Inspired By Challenge, to celebrate World Cardmaking day, and I decided to jump in (I’m observing World Cardmaking Week, with my time off!) I was inspired by this amazing card by Iris.

I went with the layout, and the masking, when I created this sweet Halloween card. I used sunset colors to make the rectangular base, then colored the cute Autumn Witch (a freebie from the past) with my Copics and fussy cut her out.

Although this particular image is no longer available, you will be spoiled for choice at the Whimsy Stamps store, no matter what holiday or occasion you’re creating for!

I die cut the letters for the sentiment, adding the “or” by hand, with a fine liner pen. A sprinkling of coordinating sequins finish this card off 🙂

Sweet Deer

Hi there! Happy October 🙂 I’m here to share my project for the current ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. We are sponsored this time by Some Odd Girl, who have kindly provided the DT images to work with. I chose Sweet Deer, who could resist a little face like that??? I colored him up with my Copics, then mounted him on a die cut oval, that I’d edged with gold ink.

I wanted to make a rustic style card, so went with wood grain and buffalo plaid background papers! The woodgrain paper is actually a tissue type paper that the unassembled pieces of my coffee table were wrapped in!! As if I was going to throw it out!! I cut and layered the printed pieces and the image on white cardstock that I’d edged in gold. I used the same ink to add some shimmer to the die cut sentiment. A few antique gold metal embellishments provided the finishing touch.

Poinsettia Sweetie

Hi there! I realized a while ago that I havent used a Conie Fong image for ages! So….I used the incredibly sweet Holly Poinsettia for this card 🙂 I colored her up with my Copics, matching the colors of my chosen papers as best I could.

I used the current sketch from the Sketchy Challenges for my layout.

After laying all the pieces out, and gluing them in place, I die cut and assembled the poinsettias, and arranged them around the image. I also cut some leaves and branches to tuck in. Some gold micro beads were used for the centers of the flowers. A stamped and embossed sentiment finished the card off.

Little Bookworm

Hi there!! It’s hard to believe that September is almost finished, even though the leaves are changing, and fall is definitely in the air! I have my last inspiration for the month for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook Challenge. Our theme this month is Think Pink for Breast Cancer, but the DT was also Challenged to use something that starts with B this week. I used Bookworm Dollie, from this set, on my card. I colored her up with my Copics, sticking with the pink theme….and actually managing to pull off the pastels!

I went with a fairly simple layout, using 2 subtly printed papers, and white matting and die cut bows as contrast. The sentiment is stamped. I finished off by placing some gems in the corners, bow centers, and on the fairy wings. My B things are bows, bling, book, and beverage.
