Snow Wonderful

Well, last post for the weekend….and back to work tomorrow. This card is a bit of inspiration for the Sheepski Designs Facebook group challenge. Our optional theme this month is Fur, Feather or Wings. As you can see, I stepped a bit out of the box, and chose “wings”. This happy little snowman is making his own wings, making a snow angel 🙂 Snow Happy is available at the Sheepski Etsy store, and is just the cutest image for a fun Christmas card!! I colored him up with my Copics, then added some snowy sparkle to make him shine 🙂

I inked the edge of the image, then layered it on some sparkly DP, with some snowflake diecuts tucked between the layers. The greeting was stamped, then cut out with a tag die. A few sparkly gems balanced the card off and added just a “bit” more sparkle!

Pink Autumn

Hi there 🙂 Another Sunday has rolled around, so that means it’s time for me to share some inspiration from Ching-Chou Kuik 🙂 Our monthly Facebook challenge, with the theme Fall/Fall colors, has a week left to go, so you still have time to get an entry in! This week, the DT was thrown an extra challenge, and it was Think Pink….as a nod to breast cancer awareness. When the DT has an extra challenge, I always like to incorporate the monthly challenge theme, as well. Well, this week, it was a bit of a mission!!! I never think of pink as an autumn color, but I guess that’s what a challenge is all about!! I used the beautiful Autumn Fantasy, found in the Etsy Store. After coloring her up with my Copics….using mostly pinks, with the exception of the fall leaves, I started to develop an idea 🙂

I die cut some maple leaves, then used the same markers that I colored the leaves in the image, to color them. I die cut a pretty pink frame, glued it on a light pink base, and arranged the leaves around the image. Because I’d added some gold gel pen accents to the image, I stamped and embossed the Thank You sentiment in gold, and added some gold touches with Liquid Pearls. Before matting on a bright pink CS, I lightly edged the back with some gold ink.

Looking at the finished product, I was actually surprised at how good the pink looked with the fall leaves!! Probably not a “go to” color combo, but certainly one that I won’t discount any longer!!

Vampire Christmas

Hello! Time is really buzzing by, and it’s really feeling and looking like fall here in Saskatchewan, Canada. It’s also time for a new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers!! We would love to see whatever you create!! My creation took a few twists and turns along the way….lol. I used Halloween Vampire Rose Lady from Morgan’s Artworld, and was originally going to make a Halloween card. That is, until a friend said, after it was colored, that it could be used for Christmas, too. I’m more of a traditional type for Christmas, so didn’t think much more of that idea, until I mentioned it to another friend, and she told me it would be perfect for her sister!

So….I went with the idea! I decided to stretch things even further, and do a black on black design. I die cut a “frame” for the image from a leather look black paper, thinking that different textures will define the different elements. I embossed the background with a Spellbinders folder, then went over it with a clear glitter pen from Spectrum Noir. I die cut some holly sprigs with a Tim Holtz die, then arranged everything over the background which I’d wrapped with some sheer black ribbon. To finish off, I added a pretty bow (that tied up right the FIRST time I tried!!!!!), and some black gemstones to edge the ribbon, add holly “berries” and to dress up the centre of the bow.

Bow closeup that you can see a bit of the clear glitter on the background 🙂

I’m so happy with how this unusual Christmas card turned out….and maybe I’ll try some of the same techniques on a Halloween card!!!

Dragonfly Easel

Hey there 🙂 I’ve got a quick inspiration post for our current challenge at Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group. Our theme this month is Fall/Fall Colors, and this week, the DT was also challenged to include a bug or insect in the project. Of course, Ching-Chou has a fabulous selection to fit either of these themes at her Etsy shop!!! I used Purple Dragonfly for my card, and colored it up in fall colors with my Copic markers.

I cut the image out with a die that frames it nicely, then set to assembling this easel card, using the current sketch at Cheerful Sketches as an inspiration.

The background paper I’ve had for years, but was perfect for this project, and was complimented so nicely with some warm brown matting. I die cut the dragonfly embellishment out of gold mirror card, then added some gold peel off dragonflies and a strip of gold leaves, also peel off sticker. I carried on the design for the base of the easel. I like how some laugh at the size of my stash…..pointing out that I haven’t used something for ages….like peel off stickers….but I know that they will come in handy at some point….as they have here!!!!

*I didn’t mention that I used gold shimmer pen on the image’s dragonfly wings, because no matter what, you can’t see it in the photo….but you gotta believe me when I say I did!! LOL

Butterflies in the Breeze

Hi there 🙂 Time for my Sunday inspiration for Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge. This month, our theme is Fall/Fall Colors. This is such a beautiful time of year, and we are looking forward to seeing all your autumnal makes 🙂 I used the image Blowing In the Wind, on of the many gorgeous images that can be found at the Etsy Shop. I colored her with my Copics, then fussy cut her out.

I die cut an olive green back drop for her, as well as a bare tree to tuck behind her. I glued everything to a piece of warm brown background paper, and added a bunch of punched butterflies (instead of leaves) and was not happy with it at all!!! After sleeping on it for a night, I decided to cut the top and bottom edges of the background in a curve, then ink them with distress ink. I placed it on a piece of shimmery gold paper, but it was still missing something! I got out my embossing folders, and decided on a swirly pattern that reminded me of wind blowing.

I added a sticker sentiment, and some orange twine (it was orange and white, but I colored it to match the rest of the colors) that I tied a butterfly charm to (also colored to match!) Some glittery “trails” for the butterflies, and a green mat to match the image backdrop finished the card off 🙂

Floral Sympathy

Hi there 🙂 I’m here with my inspiration piece for Creative Fingers Challenge Blog. All of our challenges are ATG, and we love to see your creations!! This time, we are sponsored by the one and only Bugaboo Stamps!! Jodie has an image for every occasion in her store, so it’s more than worthwhile to check the selection out!! I used Floral Butterfly Corner for my card. I had a big order for sympathy cards, and this image just spoke to me. I added the sentiment before printing it out on my computer. I colored it with my Copics, trying a different technique. I colored the entire image with the warm gray range of markers, then, using the lightest shades in the color families, I colorized it. Very subtle, but I love the effect, especially for this kind of card. I triple matted it with black and white CS, and this card was done 🙂 Here’s a closeup that shows the colors a bit better…

Sunflower Squirrel

Hi, I’m back again with my Sunday inspiration for Ching-Chou Kuik’s Facebook challenge. This month, our theme is “Four-legged Friends”. There are lots of images in the Etsy store that feature our animal friends, so you have a great choice! I used Fall Squirrel for my project, and colored it with Copics.

I matted the image with the same CS that I used as a mat when arranging the subtle patterned papers into layers. I die cut a leaf border, some berries and a cheerful sunflower to edge the image. To finish, I added a peel off sentiment and butterfly, and some gold adhesive balls.

Moo-ving

Hi 🙂 I’m here today with some inspiration for the challenge at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group. We’re always ATG, but each month, we have an optional twist…..this month that twist is Square Cards. Any image from Sheepski Designs can be used, and we’d love to see your creations!!! I’ve been eyeing up Curly for quite some time now, so this month, he got to take centre stage! 🙂 I colored him up with my Copics….he’s great practice on hair/fur!!!

I grabbed some cool printed paper, and cut an aperture for Mr. Curly to look out of. I matted the print paper with some teal CS – a color I picked up from the print. I printed the sentiment on my computer, then cut it with a fishtail banner die. I dug through my MASSIVE stash of buttons, and found some odd ones that coordinated with the card colors, and tied them with some embroidery floss before attaching them to the card 🙂

Since I regularly get orders for “good-bye/good luck” cards, this project puts me one step ahead!!

Orchid Sympathy Card

Hi there 🙂 Today, I have some inspiration from Aurora Wings. We have a Facebook challenge every month, starting on the first Monday of the month, and it’s always ATG, with either a finished project or coloring, old or new!! Come join us at our Facebook Group!! I had a big order for sympathy cards, recently, so decided to go with something simple and elegant, using the beautiful Orchid Border (found exclusively HERE in the digi store). I colored it with my Copics, then fussy cut the bottom edge.

I’m not much of one for using pink, generally, but this image just called for it. I embossed a pink piece of CS, then layered the image over it. A simple, die cut sentiment was added near the bottom. I called it finished at this point, as I like to keep sympathy cards simple and clean.

Christmas Friends

Hello 🙂 It’s hard to believe that August is over half done!!! Time for my inspiration project for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge 🙂 Our theme this month is “Four Legged Friends”…..as I was looking through the images in Ching-Chou’s Etsy store, I saw this one, and thought it was high time I started making my Christmas cards!!! Usually, I start in January, but this year……..well……this is the first! I colored A Christmas Tree (without background) up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out.

I layered it with a mirror card printed with snowflakes, a die cut pine tree, and a pretty die cut frame. This really popped against the dark brown background, that I embellished with die cut snowflakes from mirror card, some dots of Nuvo, and a pretty green Christmas sentiment.
