Gnomie Birthday

Hi there 🙂 One of my sisters recently celebrated her birthday, and I wanted to make an extra special card for her. She LOVES gnomes, so I went on a search for birthday gnome digital stamps, and found this adorable little guy from Lee Holland Illustations! I colored Gnome With Birthday Cake with my Copics, added a touch of glitter to the hat band and some ink smooshing for the background.

I wanted to do some sort of fancy fold card for her, but after messing up countless pieces of paper with the fold I was thinking of, I settled on this one with a band.

For the band, I stamped and embossed the sentiment in a dark purple, then die cut the sentiment and mat, before attaching it to the band itself. I started to decorate the card panels, using a fun confetti print for the background. I cut some purple and red candles to position at the bottom, and added some Wink of Stella designs to them. The top of the card looked bare, so I cut some streamers to drape across the panels, adding some colorful gems to them. A die cut Happy Birthday sentiment finished off the middle panel with the image. After standing back and looking at the card, I still felt it was missing something, so I punched some flowers to scatter at the base of the candles. After popping some gem centres to the blooms, and a few leaves, this card was finished 🙂

Rose Thanks

Hi there 🙂 With the nice spring weather we’ve been having, I’ve been in a flowery mood. I was going through my digi stamps and found this gorgeous rose from Make It Crafty, another store that has sadly closed. I colored it up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out. For the background, I did a faux embossing technique, by diecutting a background, then laying it over a piece of paper in the same color. I matted it with black, then cut the sentiment out in black as well. After attaching the rose, and the sentiment, I added a scattering of small black rhinestones to finish the card off. Although it’s a simple card, I’m loving the subtle detail in it!!

Green Wave

Hi there 🙂 I needed a card for a work birthday…and none of the cards that I had on hand really seemed to suit the guy, so I whipped this one up. I’ve seen different variations of wave cards online, and thought I’d go with that. I went into my scrap drawer, and found some little pieces to cut the circles from.

After die cutting the various size circles, I cut them in half and loosely arranged them on the card blank. When I was happy with how things looked, I glued them down, and added a strip with a die cut sentiment. A few black enamel dots gave the card a cool finishing touch 🙂

Birthday Band

Hi there 🙂 I have a cute birthday card today, featuring an adorable image from Rachael Anne Miller. I printed Animal Parade and the sentiment (from my stash) at the same time, then colored the image with my Copics.

I kept the design of this card fairly simple. I cut a square window in the image piece, then matted it with alternating black and turquoise card stock. I then die cut the numbers 0-9, so that the card could be personalized with the recipients age at the time of giving.

Candy Cane Basket

Hi there 🙂 It’s been a while since I’ve made a Christmas card, even though I know that leaving it all to the last minute is a very bad idea!! So I printed up this gorgeous Candy Cane Basket from Jan’s Digital Stamps, and got to work! I colored the image with my Copics, then fussy cut it out.

I placed the cut out image on a square doily die cut. I layered this, as well as some crinkle ribbon, tied into a fluffy bow, on some holly printed background paper. Some white faux stitching, done with a Posca pen, gave the edge a bit of definition. I finished the card off with a die cut sentiment that I added a few gems to for holly berries.

Another Birthday!

I work with a bunch of guys, and I like to make them birthday cards for their special day. Some of them have a sense of humour, and actually appreciate a bit of snark with their cake 🙂 I made this card for one of our more senior guys, featuring an image from Whimsy Stamps. Dudley with Toilet Paper was a freebie given during Covid, as a sweet pick me up for all the Whimsy fans 🙂 I had other ideas for it with this card, lol. I colored the image up with my Prismacolor pencils, then cut it out with a wavy die.

I gathered some coordinating papers, and set to cutting an assembling the card. I layered the image with a black matting, over a polka dotted frame, that was set at an angle over another dotted print. A combination of die cuts makes up half the sentiment, then I printed the last part on my computer. A few enamel dots finish this fun card off.

Tea Time Treats

Hi there 🙂 Every once in a while, I like to send a quick note to tell distant friends or family that I’m thinking about them. I made this little notecard using an adorable image from Pink Gem Designs 🙂 I colored up Tea Time Hedgie with my Copics, adding some highlights with my white Posca pen.

To assemble the card, I chose a happy rainbow colored print for the background. I cut an oval frame into a piece of cardstock that coordinated with the cup, then added a white frame to the aperture. I then popped this over the image with some foam dots to give it some depth. Some flowers with button centres and a cheery Hello sentiment finished this card off.

30

Hi there 🙂 It was recently my son’s birthday. How did he get to be 30 already?!?!?!?! I think he’s wondering the same thing! I wanted to make a special card for him, and thought of a shaped 30. I got out some of my templates, and created the card base, overlapping the numbers, so there’d be more writing room on the inside. I’ve had a pad of paper for years, that has all kinds of fabric prints in masculine tones and patterns. I cut the numbers out of some of these, and layered them onto the base. I then used a couple of pens to add stitching along the edges. I die cut numerous banner shapes from the printed paper, and some with a stamped sentiment. After arranging them on some twine that I’d draped across the front of the card, I added some silver embellishments and some twine bows at the ends. A few more silver embellishments on the number finish this off. I’m so pleased that my son loved his card <3

Teddy Rocker

Hi there 🙂 Today is the start of a new challenge over at Creative Fingers. As always, our challenge is ATG, as we love to see anything and everything that you create!! Our wonderful sponsor this time is our own Tindaloo, who is offering 3 images to the winner! For my project, I created a baby card using an old image from Beccy’s Place. I believe this one has been retired, as I can’t find it anywhere in the store anymore, but there is a lot of other images there that will get you drooling! I colored the teddy bear with my Copics, then fussy cut him out.

I decided to make a rocker card this time, and cut the base with a pierced circle die. I used a smaller die from the same set to cut the white piece, then matted it with a fancy edged circle die cut. To add a bit of color to my neutral card, I used some blue scraps of card stock to cut the congrats sentiment, pins, as well as a sprinkling of hearts and dots. A few grey sprinkles balance things out.

Rainbow Blooms

Hi there 🙂 I was thrilled to be asked to be a guest designer at Mirtillamente Challenge for May. There are a number of fun themes for you to work with – rainbow – gnomes – fairies – turtle – bee. How much fun!!! I went with Rainbow and Bee for my GDT card that features the image Flowerz Flow 3. I colored the image up with my Copics, then used the mask that I’d cut to stencil in the background. Not exactly a honeycomb pattern, but it was the closest thing I had!! I then gave the whole thing a light spatter of black paint. After cutting out each panel and adhering it to a piece of black card stock, I added the sentiment, and the bee 🙂
