Cheers to Summer!

Cheers to SummerIt finally feels like summer here! Its been a long time coming, too. For this card, I started off by using this awesome sketch from Crafts 4 Eternity C082 I used a stamp by Art Impressions, the sassy lady looks as if she is quite enjoying her bevvy as she sits in the sun :) I dug around my paper stash and found a fun summer floral print, and a pink polka dot scrap and layered it with a pale green, and a white border, punched with a MS punch. When I found a spool of coordinating blue ribbons, I knew they would be a perfect addition to this card! I didn’t know what to do for a sentiment, but finally settled on a small round sticker. This card is also getting entered into the Chocolate, Coffee and Cards – Summer Days; Fussy and Fancy – Summertime; and Come and Get It – Cool Things for Summer challenges. Now I think I’ll grab a bevvy of my own and enjoy some sunshine!

Anniversary Celebration

admin-ajaxI got an order for an anniversary card the other day, only to find that whatever ‘mojo’ that I had, was gone! Finally, I came up with this, using this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

FMS Final 143-001I also used the color scheme of blue, gray, and green from Sunday Stamps ‘we’re going tropical’ challenge. I cut the wine glasses with my Cricut, and added some iridescent glitter glue inside, to give the effect of liquid. This, I mounted on a charcoal gray backdrop. I found some patterned paper in the required colors, and layered it with strips of the green, and white with the anniversary sentiment (hero arts), stamped in sapphire silk ink. I plunked everything on a piece of blue card stock that I embossed with my Cuttlebug, and added a blue bow and a grey flower with a pretty brad for a center.

Dragonfly Doodle

Dragonfly DoodleI haven’t done anything remotely resembling a zentangle for a long time, so I decided to incorporate some doodles into this card. After making my design, I mounted it on a teal cardstock. The image is from a wonderful stamp set from Inkadinkadoo. The hidden detail in the image, when you really look, is fascinating :) I colored it in with some turquoise Spectrum Noir markers, then popped it on the card with foam dots. The simplicity of the design made me think it would be a perfect sympathy card. I added the sentiment, and will enter it in Aud Sentiments current challenge, which calls for a two word sentiment.

Dream of Paris

Dream of ParisI think I made more of a mess of my place, making this card for The Paper Shelter’s ‘travel the world’ challenge, than I have for a very long time! I made the background by inking an acrylic block with a number of Distress Inks, spritzing, then plunking it down on watercolor paper. When this dried, I used the Tim Holz harlequin stencil and some molding paste to give some texture. After waiting for this, too, to dry, I rubbed the same colors of inks over the paste. Then I got out the Perfect Pearls mist in pewter and gave it a few quick shots. Wasn’t satisfied yet, so I smeared some blue glitter here and there :) For the tag, I stamped an Eiffel Tower image by Paper Artsy, then masked it and used a Blockheads script stamp for the background. I inlked the edges, added a metal ‘dream’ with blue jute twine, a metal corner and some blue rhinestones. I finished the tag off by putting some Ranger sepia accent on the tower. I put the whole thing together with some foam dots, then mounted it on a blue card stock that I had stenciled the edge of with the harlequin pattern. With a quick tearing and inking of one edge, I was done…….now to clean!

Comfy Kitty

Comfy Kitty
I was very excited to use my new Magenta stamp on this card. The cat image is so realistic. I stamped it with brown StayzOn and then gave it a wash of color with watercolor pencils. After playing around with some different accent pieces, I settled on the pretty yellow roses, some crumpled tissue from an old sewing pattern, a bit of pearl edged lace, and a pink bow. I mounted this on a green patterned paper, then stood back and decided it needed some more pearl accents and a bit of gold gel pen doodle around the patterned paper :) I’m entering this in the Little Red Wagon’s ‘animal antics’; QKR Stampede, ‘use a dog or a cat’; and Come and Get It, ‘animals’ challenges.

Fireworks Celebration

Fireworks CelebrationHere’s a card I made using the inspiration from the Pink Elephant sketch TPE-Sketch256 for this weeks challenge, as well as {Pin}spirational inspiration picture…june24 I’ve had the fireworks paper for some time, and never got around to using it until now. Paired with the Cricut cut out branch silhouettes, coordinating papers, and a sentiment stamp from Stampology, I think it fits in with both challenges :) Only thing is…..I keep thinking candy corn!

A Little Birdie Told Me

A Little Birdie Told MeThis is one of those rare cards that I didn’t use a stamp for (except on the inside). Love to Create Challenge blog’s color challenge this week was to use navy, orange, lemon and lime….wow! After riffling through mounds of paper, I had a stack of possibilities in front of me that I began shuffling around until I came up with this. I thought the little stack of birds was so cute, and went really well with the Cricut sentiment. I matted everything with orange, and some plaid paper that was in the required colors. A piece of ribbon and some dots cut from the same paper stack as the birds were the final touches. I’m also entering this in Incy Wincy’s “things with wings” challenge and the current challenge at Simply Create Too, which calls for the sentiment to be the focal point.

Christmas Sparkle

Christmas SparkleAnother week gone by, and another addition to my Christmas card stash :)  The theme this week at Merry Monday is ‘sparkle, shimmer and shine’; and at Holly Jolly Christmas, it’s ‘show me some glitter’. I used the awesome sketch…….from Tuesday Morning Sketches to start this card off.TMS #255I used gold glitter card stock and some brown and gold swirly paper to give some sparkle in the background. The sentiment, from Inkadinkadoo Stamps, is stamped and embossed with glittery gold. I added a poinsettia, that I added some bling to, some shimmery gold branches, and red rhinestones to finish it off :)

Jingle the Reindeer

Jingle the ReindeerI had soo much fun with this guy! I started of with this sketch from Sketch Saturday…….SS315-2014-Debra (1)Then, I went with the ‘reindeer’ theme from 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown. The image is an Inkadinkadoo stamp that I’ve had for some time and maybe used once. I colored him in with my beloved Spectrum Noir markers and matted the image with kraft card. Although the striped and polka dotted papers come from two completely different collections, I really like how they look together :) I found the piece of gold ribbon that was just the right length and spelled out JINGLE with some small gold alpha stickers. I felt that the tiny jingle bells were the PERFECT finishing touch for this card….and happens to be the theme for the current Alphabet Challenge. I’m also entering this in 4 Crafty Chicks ‘stripes’ challenge.

Live, laugh, love

Live Laugh Love

Well, I did it again and got the times all mixed up on a few challenges….and missed the deadline…again! However, there are still some wonderful challenges out there, that I haven’t managed to sleep through :)  I’m entering this card in the “flower power” challenge at Totally Gorjuss, Crafty Ribbons – use stitching and ribbon, Sugar Creek Hollow – floral, and Top Tip Tuesday – use 2 or more ribbon or twine. A tip for Top Tip Tuesday is for wrinkled ribbons (which mine ALWAYS seem to be) is to keep a hair straightening iron handy. I have a mini one just for my ribbons, you can just slide your ribbon through the straightener and TADA!!! Smooth ribbon in an instant!

The paper I used for this card is from The Old World stack by DCWV. I machine stitched around everything……and even managed to keep the stitching relatively straight!! The sentiment is from a complimentary stamp set from a magazine….its by Indigo Blue. I layered everything, adding the cream and brown ribbons, lace, and roses as I went. To finish off, I added a few brown pearls.
