Teddy Joy

Hi there 🙂 I always make a card for the group at our other office in the province, and try to have a group image of some sort. I was so happy to find this one over at Lili of the Valley, as it has 5 teddies, and there are 5 of us at our office. I colored up the Noel Teds with my Copics, then used a stitched slimline die to cut them out. After matting the image with another stitched die cut in green, I sat back to try and figure out what kind of embellishments would work. I found a small sign die that worked perfectly with a little sentiment stamp. The tiny holly die cut with coordinating berries added a bit more festivity to the card.

Snowy Barnyard

Hi there 🙂 I felt like doing a card with a bit of a vintage feel to it, so I went back to my farm roots with this image from QKR Stampede (store sold/closed) to start with. I colored up the farmyard with my Copics, then embossed a sprinkling of white for a snowy effect. I took a piece of kraft card, and embossed that as well with the white sprinkles. I found a piece of corrugated cardboard, and brushed over it with some Distress inks, and wrapped some crinkle ribbon around it before layering it over a piece of snowflake printed paper. I assembled this and the image on the kraft base. A die cut snowflake border, a stamped sentiment and another die cut snowflake finished this card off.

Snowy Deer

Hi there 🙂 I’m full swing into the Christmas card making, and so far, the mojo hasn’t run out!!! Better keep at ‘er, as it seems to disappear every year!! I fell in love with this Christmas Deer from All Dressed Up Stamps as soon as I saw it. I colored it up with my Copics, then added a snowy effect in the background with the blender pen.

After cutting the image out with a circle die, I found a swirly snow die that framed it beautifully. I cut the snow out twice, and popped up the second of the bigger snowflakes on some foam dots to give some dimension. I used a winter tree folder to emboss the bottom part of the background, separating this area with the blank upper area with a scored line. After attaching the deer and frame, I die cut a sentiment and glued it to the top. A few of the off cut snowflakes from the frame swirl around it. For a finishing touch, some gemstones were added to the centres of the snowflakes, giving a bit of sparkle to the card.

Special Birthday

It was recently my kid’s birthday, and one thing they have a true gift for is plants, so I had to incorporate foliage into their card somehow! I’ve seen a number of Diamond Point or Triple Point cards around lately, and decided to give it a go. I’m not a math-y person, and all the angles were a bit intimidating to me! I chose a pretty plant print paper, a simple black and white print, and a pretty green for my main colors – with black matting for a nice contrast. I carefully cut out all the pieces, holding my breath the whole time, and assembled the card base. Success!! I absolutely love how it looks 🙂 I went through my dies to find a sentiment that complimented the card design, and cut it out of silver mirror, and black card stock. I inlaid the lettering in the silver banners with some black off cuts, so it popped. For a finishing touch, I took some 1mm rhinestones, got my glasses on, and carefully placed them on the black birthday word. My kid loved the card, and I was thrilled with the classiness of the finished product!!

Poinsettia Drama

Hi there 🙂 Every year, my kid asks me to make a poinsettia card for their partner’s parents, as this is the favorite flower. I schmoozed around, and found this absolutely stunningly gorgeous digital image at Alex Syberia Designs. I colored the Christmas Poinsettia from the Vintage Collection up with my Copics, after printing it off full card size. I then lightly sprinkled some gold powder over it and embossed it. I cannot remember what this card style is called…..I die cut the image into 4 rectangles, then matted each piece before stacking them back together. A layered die cut sentiment and a few black embellishments finish this dramatic card off.

Still Younger

Hi there 🙂 I’m at an age that when I know someone older than me, I never, EVER, let them forget it, lol!! Ok, it depends on who it is, I guess, but I’m the first to admit I can be a real little turd about it, especially if they’re just a tiny bit older! This little character from Mo’s Digital Pencil actually reminded me of myself when I’m teasing someone! I colored Dodi up with my markers, then matted her up with a couple mats that coordinated with the background paper.

I had chosen the background paper to go with the colors of the image, then couldn’t find any embellishments that went with the card! I die cut a number of banner shapes from matching colors of plain card stock, and adhered them to the image. The sentiment was stamped, and I added some color to part of it. I know exactly the person who I’m giving this card to…a friend who is 1 week older than me!! LOL

Panda Fun

Hi there 🙂 My adopted daughter loves loves loves pandas, and it was her birthday recently, so I didn’t have to think very hard on what kind of card to make her!! Instead of just incorporating a panda, I decided to make the whole card a panda! I printed a panda image from Digi Doodle Studios card size, then set to coloring it up with my Prismacolor pencils. I didn’t want the blends too smooth, as, at this size, I really wanted to have a fur texture for him. After coloring it up, I fussy cut it out, and mounted it on a card base that was cut to roughly the same shape. I made a tiny slit by his paw, so he could hold on to the birthday cupcake that I’d stamped and colored with my pencils. I was super happy with how this turned out, and so was my kiddo bear 🙂

Reindeer Gift Card Holder

Hi there 🙂 Every Christmas I like to remember some of the delivery guys from work with a little something, usually in the form of a gift card. For this card holder, I used a sweet image from Tiddly Inks. Their Etsy store seems to be a thing of the past, so I’m glad I stocked up with the digi stamps when I did! I colored this festive reindeer with my Copics, then added a snowy background with my white Posca.

I combined a few gift card holder ideas that I’ve seen, and added some fun background paper and matted the image before adding it to the front. I die cut the sentiment twice, to add a shadow, then added some highlights with Posca. I added pieces of background paper to the rest of the assembly, matting it the same as I did on the front. A quick stamped sentiment finished things off, and still leaves plenty of room to add a personal message.

Sweet Treats

Hi there 🙂 When I saw this image from Ching-Chou Kuik, I just knew I had to have it!! I colored up the simplified version of Sweet Candy with my Copics, using a contemporary color palette. I added a few highlights with a white Posca, a gold glitter pen, and some Wink of Stella, then cut it out with a die, leaving the bottom portion to fussy cut.

I selected some coordinating pink, mint green and gold papers to design the card with. With the gold, I matted the image, and also die cut a bow and the background for the sentiment. I used an assortment of candy dies, and inlaid them with contrasting colors, before arranging them with the bow, and adding the sentiment. A few pretty pink and gold gems finish this card off perfectly.

Floating Hummingbird

Hi there 🙂 It was my sister’s birthday a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to make a special card for her. In my family, we all love flowers and hummingbirds, so this beautiful set of images, one of my all time favorites, from Power Poppy was the perfect choice for this card. I printed off the frame from Hummingbird Paradise separately from the 2, mirror image, hummingbirds. I colored everything up with my Copics, then fussy cut the birds.

I wanted the effect of the hummingbird to be floating amongst the flowers, so I assembled the card with 2 fronts, one with the floral frame, and the very front one being a framed piece of acetate. I carefully glued the hummingbird images on opposite sides of the acetate, so when the card is opened, both sides are nicely colored, and the bird can “fly”.

I added a frame of pretty sparkly trim to the front for an extra bit of prettiness. For the inside, I clipped a couple of the flowers from the image, and added them to a sentiment, coloring them to match the front.

I was happy with how this turned out, and especially so when my sister received it, and also loved it!
