Ombre Chill

I stepped waaaay out of my comfort zone with this card.  No colored image, no layers….just super CAS and I looooove it!!  I die cut the beautiful deer head out of a piece of paper that I had inked with my oxide inks to give an ombre effect.  After gluing it to a card base, I stamped a sentiment with the same oxide ink.  A bit of a smattering of tiny rhinestones were all this card needed to make a cool and elegant Christmas card for this year 🙂

Winter Wolves

I’m blogging up a storm here….I’ve found a bit of a “system” that seems to be working for me, where I do most of my coloring in the mornings, and at work, assembling in the mornings a bit, and at the beginning of weekends, then go like mad with posting stuff until I’m back at work on Monday again. 🙂  This card features the stunning image Lycaonia, from Teri Sherman, at Delicious Doodles.  I colored it up with my Prismacolor pencils, having a lot of fun with all the elements, from the fur to the fabric, to the northern winter sky background 🙂  I stamped some trees, to define the horizon in the background, with stamps from a set I’d purchased…..and forgot about!  A friend challenged me to use DP (she thinks I have too much, lol….probably do!), on every card I make this year….easier said than done when its a very CAS design!! I dug deep to find this piece of blue dotted paper, which I partially cut with a curved edge die, then tucked the image into the cut, to form a frame for the image and a bottom border (hope that made sense…it’s 5:30am here, and I’m not done my first cup of coffee!)  I die cut Hugs, affixed it, and called this card done 🙂

Happy Bug Tag

Good morning 🙂  A friend of mine was shocked when I actually made a tag, as I’m not really known to make them much.  I love them, I just don’t know what to do with them!!!  I did this one featuring the cutest little bug ever, from Createful Hearts Digis.  I colored Dragonfly Hi with my Copics, then cut the image out with a stiched die.  Here’s a close up of him:

I cut the tag base from some cute leaf print paper, then started fishing around in my dies to see what I could find.  The branch and the cloud dies fit the bill, and so did my new word dies…which “smile” seemed the most appropriate 🙂  I used a scrap of bright green ribbon for the tie, but was still unhappy with the overall look….  I cut a green and a white fringe and layered them at the bottom with another strip of the ribbon (I actually officially finished up a whole roll of ribbon here!!!  I have so much, and save the scraps, then forget about them, so I never actually use the last bit!!)  Of course, I had to cut the “smile” again, as it was glued down before I got the brainwave, lol.

A Bloomin’ Great Birthday!!

Good morning 🙂  It’s been such a long time since I’ve done a card with a quirky character from Bloobel, that I thought that I should get on it 🙂  I used Bekkah Bloom for this card.  I colored her up with my Copic and SN markers, then cut her out with a die that had a thin frame on it.  I just got some flower dies, so I used them to make the flowers for this card…pretty happy with them, but like anything, it needs a bit more practice 🙂  Another die was used for the greenery.  I messed around with papers and other touches for a long time, but finally settled on using some fiber “pineapple” paper (that’s the name, and it’s pretty cool stuff!) behind the image, and I layered numerous pieces of papers I received a few years back with a magazine.  I distressed these before adhereing them.  The card still needed something….and believe me, I looked through A LOT of embellishments, dies, etc. before settling on using the scribbles from a Tim Holtz Sizzix die set.  I cut the die cuts in half and tucked them around the edeges.  Some purple pearls were added at the very end.  I was bloomin’ happy with how it turned out!! (sorry, couldn’t resist). 🙂

Pink Chic

Hi there 🙂  I was in a CAS mood when I made this card, using Vintage Dog Walk, from A Day For Daisies. I colored this lady and her pooch with my Copics, then added a bit of sparkle to the dress with some glitter gel pen.  I saw this sketch over at Feeling Sketchy, and decided to flip it for the layout of this card.

I cut the sentiment with a die from , and managed to find some deep pink CS that matched the dress to perfection.  I played around with a few small embellishments, but decided to leave them off, as they took away from the over all look of the card, rather than enhancing it!!

Lilac Lilies

Hi there!!! At Creative Fingers, we are back for our first challenge of 2018!  Angelique has kindly donated this wonderful die as a prize:

I tried to convince her to let DT members enter, for the chance at winning this beauty, but no go, lol!! Our challenges are ATG, so we would love to see any of your creations!

I used an image that came with the Kit and Clowder Elements of Nature Class.  The instructions that Alyce gives in her classes are good for any medium, and any color combination – as I’ve shown with the purple Calla Lilies 🙂  I matted the image with the same dark purple CS that I cut the lattice pieces from, before adhering it to a mauve backgound.  Some pearls and gems add the perfect finishing touch to this elegant card.

Marie of the Dead

Hi there 🙂 I’m a little in shock that I made this card up and didn’t get it on here RIGHT AWAY!!! I’m so proud of it 🙂  Every year, I have a standing order for a Day of the Dead card for a friend’s sister.  I knew that this year’s card would feature Day of the Dead Marie, by Mitzi, at Aurora Wings.  This was a challenging image to color up, as it is so detailed.  I got my head into the “I can do this” state, and grabbed my SN and Copic markers and went to work….I seriously don’t think I took a breath for long periods of time!!  When I was done, I added some fine detail with a Pigma Micron pen, and inked the edges with Distress Ink.  With such an intricate image, I hate to start getting all fussy with embellishments and papers, so I opted for a very pale mauve CS, die cut with a Tim Holtz Sizzix die in opposite corners, then layered over a black CS.  Some black lace, a little strip of ribbon and tiny bow, and a few rhinestones for embellishments complimented the gorgeous image without overpowering it.

The Storm

Good morning.  I’ve had some colored projects done, and waiting patiently to be put on cards, and this was one of them.  The image is Rose In Storm, by Ching-Chou Kuik.  I colored her up with my SN and Copic markers, adding some white gel pen in the lightning, and some Wink of Stella on her sheer wrap.  I layered her up on some pretty printed DP, from a pad that I got recently, and a piece of navy CS.  I fiddled around with embellishments,  and decided to use a few of the new roses I got, and some pieces of a brick wall die cut.  The sentiment, which is perfect for an encouragement card, was printed on my computer.

Butterflies Are Free

Hi there 🙂  Another Thursday has rolled around, and that means it’s time for a new challenge at C.R.A.F.T.  This week, our theme is “Distress Your Project/Vintage”.  And, as always, we have some generous sponsors with prizes for our lucky winners 🙂

$7 Voucher

and

Voucher for 15% your next purchase.

I had a ton of fun making my card, as it’s been a long time since I beat up a card to give it a distressed/vintage look 🙂  I used Butterflies are Free, from Pickled Potpourri.  I printed it on a parchment paper, then added some soft colors with watercolors.  I messed around with my papers, and finally decided to make my own background paper (this card was made before a friend challenged me to use DP on every project I make this year), by stamping some Kaisercraft butterflies on some CS.  The Cuttlebug script embossing folder worked well on this card, as there is a script in the background of the image.  After embossing some kraft CS, I tore and distressed the edges of all the papers, then inked them with Distress Inks.  I also inked a blue doily, which brought out the subtle blue in the image.  I’ve recently got some new dies, so had to play.  I cut a butterfly and a floral swag, which was placed under some strips of some ribbon and some new lace that I got.  I added pearls in the centres of the flowers, as well as in the corners….because in my mind, pearls = vintage, lol.  Hope you like this as much as I liked making it, and that you can have some fun with your own project!!

Deck the Halls

Hi there 🙂  I colored this lovely image, part of the Merriest Berries digital stamp set, from Power Poppy, before Christmas.  Then, with a lot of stuff going on, and the early January aversion to anything Christmas, it made it’s way to the bottom of my project pile.  I guess I’m feeling the spirit again, because I just had to use it for the new challenge at the Power Poppy blog.  This month’s Power and Spark challenge is to grab a map (or sketch, as some call it), and create a project inspired by it.  Power Poppy is collaborating with Page Maps, and have a number of maps to choose from 🙂  I chose this one for my card:

The image was printed on grey Kraft paper and colored with Prismacolor pencils, then fussy cut out.  I found some rather muted DP and edged it lightly with some red ink, before adhering it to a grey card base.  I used a Tim Holtz Sizzix scribble die underneath the holly, to make the image pop a bit.  I used the same red paper, stamped with a greeting from a free magazine set, and cut a banner for the sentiment.  I stuck pretty close to the exact sketch for my card…..but have already got a few ideas how I can play with it (and the other ones).
