Starry Reindeer

Well, this card made it’s way across the pond to it’s destination, so I can now blog it 🙂  I used on of Whimsy Stamps adorable images for the focal point of this.  Reindeer Magic was just too cute to resist, so I set to work, coloring him up with my SN and Copic markers, and adding gold Stickles to the stars.  Since it was going to be at the mercy of the postal system, I wanted to keep this card nice and flat….something I generally struggle with.  I matted the image with white, leaving a wide border down one side, that I went at with various star punches.  I layered all of this over gold sparkle CS, to pick up the glitter of the stars in the image.  Some pretty dimensional gold stickers provided the sentiment 🙂  The blue card base brings everything together, and this guy was in the mail!!

Christmas Chihuahuas

I know I’m still blogging Christmas cards!!! With the flurry of the holidays, I just didn’t have time to share some of these 🙂  This one was specially made for the business that operates next door to the office I work at.  A few months ago, the owners mom and dad had to put down their old pup, and her dad was absolutely devastated 🙁  One day, she showed up at work with a crate (her dad works for her, and was busy in the shop).  Imagine the look on his face when he looked into the crate and saw a darling chihuahua puppy!! Cindy and her sister decided that a new baby would help to ease the pain of the loss of his old dog, and gave him the pup, who was promptly named Max.  Well, it was love at first site, and since then, Max has been coming to work 🙂  I’m generally not the biggest fan of chihuahuas, but this little guy is a sweetie!! Sooooo, what to put on their Christmas card?? Hehe, was there a choice?  Thank goodness Mitzi at Aurora Wings had this adorable image that she just came out with before Christmas!! I colored these cuties up with my SN and Copic markers, sticking with the fawn colors (like Max!!).  With it being a busier image, I wanted to keep the design of the card fairly simple, so I picked a patterned paper for the background and embellished with die cut pine branches (Tim Holtz Sizzix dies), and a pretty red bow.  Because it’s a Christmas card, and because I’m….well…..me…..I had to add a bit of sparkle on the branches with some Stickles 🙂  Oh, and they loved the card, by the way…..even Max seemed to like the fact that he got a starring role on it!!

Christmas Couple

I’m a busy girl here, blogging all the cards that have made it to their recipients 🙂  This one was made for a special couple, whom are fantastic friends, and are like a second family to me <3  This image is from The East Wind, and can be found here.  I colored it with my SN and Copic markers, then cut it out with a stiched edge die.  I used a few scraps for the smaller strips of paper, and a rustic check paper for the background.  I cut some mistletoe,  with a Cottage Cutz die from some of the same paper used on the strip.  A piece of lace and a few pearls gave a nice bit of contrast to the plaid and muted colors.

Pimpin’ Rudolf

I have loved this image “Rudolf’s Selfie“, from Sheepski Designs, since I first saw it.  He just looks so full of himself, that it makes me smile 🙂  I decided to use him to make a card for the artist that created him, Andrea, for Christmas this year.  Because it was being mailed overseas, I wanted to keep it flat to keep postage down, so I went with a CAS design.  I colored him up with my SN and Copic markers, then foiled his tooth with gold to give him a real “street” look.  I added the Ho Ho Ho sentiment with some gold stickers I had….it was nice to use up some of those spare letters from various sets, because I just can’t throw random stickers out (just in case, ya know!).  A few gold and red sequins for a bit more sparkle, and the card was ready to be sent off 🙂

Sparkle Sprite

Well, after a bit of a blogging break, I can finally catch up and blog the cards that were sent (and should be received by now!)  This card features one of the sweet Sprites by Mitzi at Aurora Wings.  After coloring the adorable Holly Sprite with my SN and Copics, I fussy cut her out.  I made a simple window card, by inserting some acetate between 2 curved pieces of silver background paper. After placing the Sprite,  I edged the window with adhesive rhinestones, stamped and embossed a sentiment to show through the window, and was done this card in a jiffy 🙂

Snowflake Dreamer

Hello 🙂  I stepped out of my comfort  zone a bit with the colors of this card, made with the lovely Snowflake Angel by Ching-Chou Kuik.  I chose soft pinks, greys, blues and golds to coordinate with the piece of pretty DP that I found in my stash, and colored her with my SN and Copic markers.  I cut the image out…partly with a Nellie Snellen nesting die, and partly fussy cut.  I matted the image with blue and gold, and layered it on the design paper which was also matted in gold.  This was all positioned on a pretty, shimmery dusty pink background paper.  I used an Echo Park snowflake die, a snowflake corner die (gotta look this one up, as I tossed the packaging and can’t remember!!), and a “Merry Christmas” script die (same thing as the corner…I got way too excited), and cut these out from a blue CS, then added some gold Stickles to the die cuts and the snowflake in the image.  I finished off by adding some gold rhinestone embellishments.  I love the look of this untraditional color scheme for Christmas!!

A Skully Christmas

Well, finally had time to get online and check my blog, only to find that my scheduled posts hadn’t posted…. again 😒.

Hello there!! It’s hard to believe that Christmas is less than a week away!  We have a new challenge up at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group today 🙂 For my inspiration card, I merged two of Andrea’s images from the store.  I used Mindy, and merged it with Skully Christmas, to make this super personalized card for a friend. Both her and her hubby love anything skulls, and I colored Mindy to match one of their cats 🙂 If you wish to purchase either of these images, or any of the other fab images, from the Sheepski Designs store, feel free to use this code, for a bit of savings 🙂

SKISUSAN10

I colored up the image with my SN and Copic markers, then added some sparkle to the sentiment (which was printed with the image), and a bit of Wink of Stella on the skull.  I layered the image with some silver mirror card on a simple pattern paper background.  I then die cut some ornaments from red mirror card, and punched out a few stars for some accents.  The big struggle, as always with mirror card, was getting a decent picture!!  I hope you can join us at the challenge this month, we’d love to see what you create with a Sheepski image!!

Holiday Hoots

Good morning 🙂  This post is bittersweet.  Sweet, because I was asked to come back as GDT on the Come and Get It Challenge for the month of December for their huge Christmas challenge.  Bitter, because, at the end of the month, the challenge will be closing down 🙁  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Cindy, Julie, and all the other ladies for asking me back,  for the great time I had as DT, and for the years of a wonderful challenge <3

This Christmas challenge has a ton of sponsors, which means, a ton of prizes to be won.  Be sure to check out the blog for all the details!  I used  Christmas Gift, from the  Twiggy and Toots collection at  Polkadoodles for my card.

Polkadoodles Ltd

I colored this sweet image up with my SN and Copic markers, then stamped a sentiment, before distressing, inking, and stitching around the edges.  I did the same with a piece of green plaid DP, then lay everything out, adding sparkly fishtail banners with red gems.  I do hope that you can join us this month, to make it a farewell that we will all cherish!!

Snowflake Sprite Door Deco

Hi there 🙂  Well, this project took so many twists and turns, I’m positively dizzy.  The only things that are the same as when I originally thought of it is the fact that I used aluminum window screen, it’s a door deco, and I used one of the adorable Sprites from Aurora Wings.  The original plan was a bow, but then I decided to cut strips from the screen, because I really thought it would be a good idea to scratch and cut my hands from here to kingdom come!! I fishtailed the edges, then bent and gathered them around a metal ring.  I added some glitter glue….smeared around on the edges…to seal the screen, add some sparkle, and further damage my hands!!  I was going to use a different Sprite, and, in fact, had it all colored up, when I was gifted 5 sprites from an amazingly generous anonymous lady (anyone that knows me, knows that I’ve lost sleep trying to figure out the anonymous part, lol.  But I’ve put the burning curiosity aside, and am just so very grateful to this person and their big heart <3 ).  I used the Snowflake Sprite,  coloring it up in very pale shades of pink and silver, with my Copic and SN markers.  I added glitter and pearly dots before fussy cutting it out.  I die cut 2 shapes, with some Michael’s nesting dies, from pink and silver metallic card stock.  I twisted the dies, and adhered the Sprite to them.  I then set to work cutting snowflakes, using Echo Park dies, from the same metallic card stock, as well as some iridescent glitter CS.  I attached some of these snowflakes to a thin silver wire (one thing that I did NOT have in my stash, so had to run out and purchase…..no silver wire at Michael’s, or the first 3 dollar stores that I visited!!!)  The wire allow the snowflakes to flutter around the Sprite.  I glued a few more snowflakes directly to the screen, and added a scattering of silver and iridescent sequins…..because you can’t have too much sparkle at Christmas!! This was extremely difficult to photograph, as the lighting sucked at the time, the pale colors of the Sprite aren’t captured, and the mirror metallic CS makes everything complicated!! However, I did manage to get a few close ups to give an idea of the project.  By the way….this one won’t be a gift, either….I like it too much, and it has found its home on MY door 🙂

The Wonder

Hi there!! It’s been a little while since I’ve posted (well, a while for me, anyway, lol) – but I took a few days off work to recharge and have fun, so I can craft and blog to my heart’s content 🙂  I made this CAS Christmas card using an adorable image from Imagine That Digis.  This sweetie is part of a set called Angel Bear With Star, and it comes with both a Christmas and an everyday version of the bear 🙂  I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils, then stamped and embossed the sentiment….from a Penny Black set…..in gold.  I matted the strip with gold shimmer paper, and added a die cut cloud for the bear to sit on.  I added some Wink of Stella to the star (which, of course, you can’t see in the pic), so it shimmers like the matting paper.  A few gold stars….from a tube that I found in my stash, with a price of 29 cents on it!!  Love the look of this, and a bonus is that it’s easy to mail, as it’s totally flat 🙂
