Merry and Bright

Hi there 🙂 Time for another Christmas card! Years ago, I came across free goofy bird digis at Kajsansscrapblog. They are so full of whimsy and fun, that I love working with them. I printed this one off on some grey paper, and colored it up with my Prismacolor pencils. Since the image was on the large side, I decided to keep the card design simple. I double matted the image before placing it on the background. A sprinkling of white embossing powder gave the beautiful blue background paper a bit of oomph, without detracting from the image. A quick die cut sentiment finished this card off 🙂

Panda Christmas

Hi there 🙂 My “adopted” daughter is absolutely NUTS over pandas, so, of course, any card I make for her has to feature one of these cute bears. When I saw this image from Sheepski Designs, I knew that all it would take was a bit of creative coloring to make it the perfect image for a Christmas card for my girl. I colored up Pressie Time with my Copics, and tada!! Panda!

I added some patterns to the gifts with various Posca pens, then fussy cut the image out. After die cutting a tag, I stamped a small seasonal sentiment. I have a ton of ribbon scraps, so I went through them and cut pieces of some festive colors to add to the bottom of the tag before popping the image on. I attached this to the background paper, then tied a bow from some of the ribbons I’d used at the bottom of the tag. A quick red mat was added before attaching to the card base 🙂

The Perfect Perch

Hi there 🙂 I was thrilled to be asked to be a guest designer at Cheerful Sketches this month. One of their sponsors is The Paper Shelter, and I was given Mind If I Settle Here to work with. The sketch for this month is an awesome one, with so many possibilities!

I colored the image up with my Copics, and added some sparkly effects for the snow and added snowflakes. A bit of gold sparkle on the star, and some clear Nuvo on the tree ornaments gave a bit more dimension and interest.

For the layout, I stuck to the sketch as closely as possible. For the 3 back panels, I embossed some white paper with a snowflake folder, and matted everything with a pretty blue. The sentiment was die cut from a deep red paper and attached to a block of white. For a finishing touch, some dark red gems were added.

I’d like to thank the team at Cheerful Sketches again for inviting me to play with them!

Hap-Bee Birthday

Hi there 🙂 I don’t make/give Halloween cards too often, but like to have a play with Halloween colors every once in a while and now is the time to play with those colors!! I used an adorable Conie Fong image for this fun slimline card. After coloring up the Daisy Bee image with my Copics, I fussy cut it out. To assemble the card, I used a layered slimline die that has three “windows” and cut the pieces out of black and green papers. I then die cut some honeycombs from a light yellow and a darker yellow, using the darker off cuts to inlay some pieces into the honeycomb. I placed these in the top and bottom windows of the card, and positioned the image in the middle. For the sentiment, I used a banner birthday die and some letter punches.

I dug around in my button jar, and found a bunch of tiny bee buttons to use as embellishments. I love the final result, as it’s not terribly Halloween-y, even though the colors definitely are!!

Autumn Leaves

Hi there 🙂 In an attempt to hold on to a bit of fall before the snow flies (I was too late), I made this quick autumnal note card. I made a few score lines on the card base before sprinkling some chunky gold emossing powder on it and heating it up. I found a number of scraps of paper in fall colors, and cut a bunch of lacy leaves out with some older Tim Holtz dies. After arranging the leaves on the card, I tied a piece of gold twine at their base. A quick die cut Hello in gold card stock finishes this card off.

Cheers!

Hi there 🙂 I was going through my digi stamp files, and found some oldie but goodies. Half of them are from stores that have been long closed. This digi is from Opal Manor. They used to have a selection of freebies that were a bit different from the main stream stuff. I found them on Pinterest, but their account hasn’t been active for years, and the link to the store doesn’t work. I printed this mug of cheer card size, and colored it up with my Copics. I had a bit of fun using different techniques with my blender pen and a white Posca to make bubbles in the beer 🙂 After fussy cutting it out, I die cut an appropriate sentiment to attach. A fun card for a beer lovers birthday 🙂

Get Well Squirrel

Hi there 🙂 I was thrilled to be asked to be a Guest Designer on Coloring With Pencils Challenge this month. Their sponsors this time are Color Of Love, Last Minute Manda, Polkadoodles, and the Paper Shelter! I was given this adorable image from Last Minute Manda to work with. This little guy is from the A Bunch of Nuts set, and is perfect for all kinds of autumn makes. I colored him up with my Prismacolor pencils, then fussy cut him out.

For the card base, I cut out a multi frame base with a die set, inlaying the dark brown outer die with a lighter brown multi sectioned piece. I printed off the sentiment on my computer, and then die cut the centre piece again. The pieces that didn’t have the sentiment on them were run through a wood grain embossing folder, then they were all attached in the frame. I popped the fussy cut image on with some foam pieces to give a bit of dimension. I’ve had these wood embellishments for quite some time, so I added a bit of color to them with some Distress Inks, and attached them for a fun fall touch.

I’d like to thank the team at Coloring With Pencils for inviting me to join them this month, and would love to see all my pencil coloring friends join in at this fabulous challenge!!

Giraffe Garden

Hi there 🙂 It’s one of my sister’s birthday, and she looooves giraffes, so, of course, I had to make some kind of giraffe card for her! I saw some mini miura cards on Pinterest, and thought the fold was super cool, so decided to use it for this one.

After getting the card all cut and folded up, I found that it didn’t stand properly, so I added an extra piece to it to fix that situation. I’ve had this paper stack with the cool giraffe print for ages, so dragged it out and cut the background pieces from 3 of the prints, and adhered them to the card. After trying a number of different giraffe images, I settled on a couple of silhouettes, as they went way better with the fussy background. I fussy cut them out and stuck ’em on.

I die cut a bunch of flowers, some grass and some twigs to create the giraffe’s garden. For the centres of the flowers, I added some teeny tiny pearls, and some glittery enamel dots. The centre panel was reserved for a die cut birthday sentiment 🙂

There is plenty of room on the reverse side to write a personal message, and a big bonus is that this card folds flat for mailing!!

Kitty-Ology

Hi there 🙂 I was looking for a die for another card I made, and came across the Tattered Lace Essentials Book Die set that I’ve had for years, and never used! I might be a bit late for the party, but it’s always a good time for books!! I cut the card base with the biggest die, then cut some of the smaller pages out from a book that I have specifically to use for card making. I inked the edges with some distress ink,to give it a bit of a vintag look, then assembled the base, giving the pages a bit of dimension. I printed out the Kitty-ology image from Whimsy Stamps, and colored it up with my Copics before fussy cutting it out.

I added some silver dots to the collar with my Posca, to give the studded look. The shape of the glasses reminded me of some sparkly glasses a friend has, so I dug out my teeny tiny (1mm) rhinestones, and glued some on. I attached the image, then die cut a sentiment for the opposite page. For a bit more sparkle, and to tie things all together, I added some of the tiny rhinestones to the stars on the sentiment, and scattered some across the book pages (which of course you can’t see, because cameras pick up what they want to!)

While I was making this card, I kept thinking of my niece, who is a book and kitty lover. Guess what she’s getting for her birthday? Lol I loved making this, and wonder why I let the die set sit for so long….I can definitely see more book cards in my future!!

Merry Owls

Hi there 🙂 I love this little stack of owls from Pink Gem Designs. I might be blind, but can’t find the image in the shop to link it up. Any help would be appreciated!!! I colored these guys up with my Copics, then addes some sparkle to the stars, and a bit of Wink of Stella to the white parts of their hats. Then, I fussy cut the image out.

This image really lends itself to a slimline card design, so I die cut a star background, and layered it over some shimmery gold paper. After popping the image on with some foam dots, I die cut a sentiment, doing the second word twice for a shadow effect when I layered them, which finished the card off 🙂
