Scottie Wreath

Hi there 🙂 One of my sisters’ birthdays is rolling around, and I had to make an extra special card for her. She has always loved Scottie dogs, and I try to incorporate them into her cards whenever possible. I was so excited to see this adorable image in the All Dressed Up shop, and had to snap him up immediately! I colored him up with my Copics, then cut him out with a pierced circle die. I had die cut the frame and shaped card base beforehand, and the circle fit nicely within it.

I found some flowers in my stash that went well with those in the image, and added a few die cut leaves to them. Some blue sparkly touches, a pretty purple bow, and a stamped sentiment finished this special card off. I hope my sister loves receiving this card as much as I loved making it!!

For a Special Couple

Hi there 🙂 With it being wedding season, I figured I should probably have a few wedding cards in my stash! This lovely image from Sheepski Designs was perfect for the card I had in mind. I colored Floral Heart with my Copics, then cut it out. Even though I started with a card in mind, the design morphed with each step until I ended up with this one. I’m not sure what this kind of card is called (cutaway?), but I think with the silver panels on the top and bottom, as well as the scattering of tiny pearls, is a perfect compliment to this lovely image!

Sending Sunshine

Hi there 🙂 I was running short of get well cards in my stash. I recently won this sweet rubber stamp, a retired one from Whimsy Stamps, and thought it would be a fun image for a get well card. I colored it with my Copics with a few white accents, then masked it off and added a background using Distress inks and a cloud template.

After cutting it out with a cool die, I started digging though my paper stash. The image color scheme, and the occasion both called for something bright and cheerful, so I stuck to the primary colors. I layered the image with some blue and yellow papers, then added some strips of red ric-rac trim. To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment on a fishtail banner die cut, and stuck a few enamel dots in the top corners.

Mousey Gift Card Holder

Hi there 🙂 I have a few people that I give gift cards to at Christmas. They are delivery guys at work, and really bring a lot of joy with their smiles and attitude throughout the year, so Christmas is a good time to give back! This little mouse from Sweet November was just too cute to pass up! I colored up Merry Christmouse with my Copics, then fussy cut him out. I tried a couple folds to hold the gift card, and finally just went my own way with this.

I like that there’s plenty of room to add a personalized message. I used some papers that I got free in a magazine for the background and pocket cover, then die cut a cheery Christmas sentiment.

Gold Rose

Hi there! I realized recently that it had been ages since I worked with one of Ching-Chou Kuik‘s gorgeous images….so I had to fix that 🙂 I colored the image Intense Red, from this amazing set of mermaid images, with my Copics. I used a die to cut out part, and fussy cut the rest.

The die that I used to partially cut the image is the inside of a gorgeous die set, which I used to cut the black frame. A deep blue background paper coordinated well with the image colors, and provides contrast to the frame. I carefully added some gold gems to outline the inside part of the frame, and some roses for the card embellishments. I really love the striking effect this card has 🙂

Peachy Blossom

Hi there 🙂 I really challenged myself with this card, as I used my least favorite color….peach!! I found a pretty background paper on the flip side of a piece that I’d purchased a long time ago. The flower was cut using a Honey Bee Coneflower die, using some peach card stock, and colored a bit with my Copics. I also added a bit of Wink of Stella to some of the petals for a bit of shimmer. I placed the assembled flower on a white die cut to make it really pop. I cut the sentiment 4 times, and layered them up for some dimension. Some matting frames everything perfectly. Even though this is not a color I like, I’m really happy with the end result 🙂

YeeHaw

Hi there 🙂 It’s time for another challenge at Creative Fingers. Our challenges are always ATG – we love to see whatever your creative minds come up with!! Our sponsor this time is the amazing Angelique, who is offering this gorgeous floral deco stencil set, which has 5 amazing stencils in the pack!

I’ve been on a run of making birthday cards for men lately. I have way more men to give cards to than women, and I find them to be quite the challenge. I had to giggle at this image from Mo’s Digital Pencil. The look on this guy’s face conveys the feeling of getting even older perfectly – but family is always excited when you make another year!! I colored YeeHaw with my Copics, then masked the image so I could stencil an ugly wallpaper print behind him – I picture him at Aunt Ethel’s place for the forced celebration, and, of course, Aunt Ethel would have wallpaper like this!! Ethel’s little granddaughter added insult to injury by plunking a pretty purple sparkly birthday hat on his head!!

I found some background paper that coordinated nicely with the colors in the image, and added a few semi circle die cuts to the layout. A sprinkling of gold confetti and spirals is a final reminder of what an exciting occasion this is for!!

Santa’s Clothes

Hi there 🙂 Time for another Christmas card. I’m so behind my Christmas makes for this year, that I just know that it’s going to be a rush to the finish once the holidays approach!! For this one, I used a fun image from The Paper Shelter. It’s perfect for my brother’s Christmas card, as he is the most amazing and special Santa I know <3 I colored up Getting Ready for Christmas with my Copics, after printing the image slightly smaller than I wanted the finished card to be. The matting added some extra “oomph” to the card, in place of embellishments. I die cut the sentiment with the same dotted paper used in the matting to tie everything together. That was all this fun CAS card needed 🙂

Lily Sympathy

Hi there 🙂 Sympathy cards are some of the hardest to make, I find, but it’s always good to have a few in your stash for sad occasions. I used a free coloring page from Ellie Marks for this one. I printed it card size, and colored it up with my Prismacolor pencils. I stamped and embossed a large sympathy sentiment in the blank space between the flowers, then double matted it with coordinating colors. The card really didn’t need anything else after that, so I called it done!!

Hey Birthday Girl!

Hi there 🙂 I made this card for a special girl, whose favorite color is green, and who likes things that are a bit edgy. I used an image from Oddball Art. I can’t find a store that’s open anymore, but there is an Oddball Art Facebook page 🙂 This image is a bit different from most of Lizzy Love’s, but I thought it was perfect for the card! I colored it with my Copics, then tore and inked the edges.

I found some green printed pieces of card stock that fit with the feel of the card. After spattering the net printed piece with some black paint, I layered the pieces together in a random way, adding some screw head brads, and a zig zag brad for a bit of embellishment. The cute, yet edgy, image, a bit of grunge, and the green colors make this a perfect card for a special girl 🙂
