50th Birthday Beauty

Hi there 🙂 I’ve been taking a bit of a break from blogging after the frantic Christmas rush!! I was asked by a friend to make a special 50th birthday card for her sister, who loves Day of the Dead images. I found this amazing image in the Paper Fun Etsy shop. I colored it up with my Copics, finding amazing details along the way!

I used a bit of a different card fold, don’t know what it’s called, or even if it has a name!! The 2 side pieces partially tuck behind the image panel, but when it’s popped out, it displays really nicely! I found a few pieces of houndstooth check paper for the side panels, and die cut a 50th sentiment to place beneath the image. To finish off, I arranged some flowers on the sides – amazed myself at how well they went!! A few turquoise enamel dots bring in the colors of the little skull bugs in the image. I’m happy to say that my friend, and her sister, were very pleased with this 🙂

Kitty’s Christmas

Hi there 🙂 I think this is my last Christmas card to blog!!! I made this for a sweet little one that loves kitties!! The image I used is from Imagine That!!! I can’t access their blog to link to them, however! I colored this little guy up with my Copics, to look like a soft tabby, and used my white Posca to give his hat a sparkly effect.

I picked out a background paper, and matted both the image and background with a Christmassy green. I die cut the sentiment out of sparkly silver paper, then inlaid the bottom part with the same green I used for a mat. To finish things off, I added an extra mat with the sparkly silver, and a few sparkle ball embellishments.

Snowy Penguin

Hi there 🙂 Here is one of my last Christmas cards. I absolutely adore Lee Holland‘s sweet images, and used one for this card. I colored up Penguin With Lantern with my Copics, then added snow with my white Posca pen.

I cut the image out with a pretty framed die, then wove some thin red ribbon through the edges, to give it a bit more oomph! For the background, I layered a snowflake die cut over some deep blue cardstock. To finish things off, I die cut a Christmas sentiment twice, so I could inlay the white piece with the red lettering. The wintery feel of this card is just what I was going for!!!

Candy Cane Wishes

Hi there 🙂 Happy New Year!! Let’s hope that 2023 is a kind year for everyone. I’m still trying to get the last few Christmas cards blogged. It’s amazing how fast time flies during the holidays!! I couldn’t make a ton of cards without using an image from Aurora Wings, and one of Mitzi’s sprites always seems to bring a smile to a person’s face 🙂 I colored up the sweet Candy Cane Sprite for this card, using my Copics. After cutting her out with a circle die, I cut a red circle to frame her on the dark green background.

What can be more festive than traditional Christmas colors, and a bunch of candy canes and peppermint candies? I die cut an assortment of sweets, adding a bit of sparkle on the candies to imitate sugar. I arranged these around the image, leaving room for a fun red and white die cut sentiment. Some red and white matting finish this card off.

Snowy Wishes

Hi there 🙂 I picked out the paper for this card first, and then the challenge was to match up the colors when coloring the cute image from Polkadoodles. I can’t find it in the store (but it’s way early, and I could be blind), so it could have been a freebie? ***Edited to add, thanks to Melanie, the image is Winnie Watch Your Step – mine has the parcels in it, but what an adorable image with or without them!!*** I used my Copics to color her up, adding some touches of white Posca, and some sparkly Stickles on the fur part of her outfit. I think I got the minty colors pretty close to the paper, too!!

I used both sides of the designer paper in my layout, and found a shimmery silver textured paper to use for mats. I die cut a few sparkly snowflakes to mirror the ones in the paper. I couldn’t figure out a great place to put a sentiment, so this is one of the few cards I make without one.

Holly Fairy

Hi there 🙂 This was what you would call a real last minute card! I had made all the cards that had to be mailed, and was making the ones that I was handing out as needed. Well, this one was down to the wire, as I finished it off about half an hour before my friend showed up on boxing day!! Whatever works during the holidays, right? I used the gorgeous freebie from Janna Fairy Art that was given out in the Kit and Clowder Advent event on Facebook. I had chosen my papers, so when I colored the image with my Copics, I took care to match them up as closely as possible.

The starry paper has glitter elements, so I brought a bit of that into the image with some Wink of Stella and a bit of sparkle on the wings. After layering all the elements together, I stamped a sentiment and die cut some holly to add to the design. For just a bit more sparkle, I added a couple strips of glittery embelishments as a finishing touch.

Pine and Bells

Hi there 🙂 When I saw this new image set from Power Poppy, I just knew I had to have it!!! I colored Mighty Pine with my Copics, then cut it out with a pretty die. I played around with some more Copic colors, and the colorless blender, to make a funky background for the image.

I found this sketch at Cheerful Sketches challenge, and loved the layout.

When I was browsing in the Dollar Store before Christmas, I found a small card stock pad of Christmas prints, and one of them was the lovely pine print I used here. For the other layers in the card, I used the colors of the bow and the bells in the image. I added dots around the gold piece for a bit more definition and interest. For a touch of Christmas bling, I added a few square rhinestones in the corner.

Wreck the Halls

Hi there 🙂 My son adopted a kitty this year, so of course I had to keep that in mind with his Christmas card! When I saw the Meowy Christmas set from Graciellie Designs, I just had to use it!! I merged the image onto a tile background from Angie Blom, to make it look as if the kitty was coming out of a chimney. I colored everything up with my Copics and added a bit of sparkle on the fur on the hat, and some Wink of Stella snow in the background.

I used a part of a sentiment from the Meowy Christmas set, the full sentiment says “Wreck the Halls and blame the dog”, but Corbin proudly takes credit for all the destruction in my son’s place!! I was humming the song the whole time I was making the card, lol! I cut out the sentiment, and added a little bow with a bell. I think that Corbin liked the card –

Christmas Stocking

Hi there 🙂 Another CAS Christmas card. I used the adorable freebie from Conie Fong, that was a gift in the Kit and Clowder Facebook group Advent event. If you missed out on the event, you can also purchase this cute image here. I colored it with my Copics, then cut it out with a cool slimline die.

I added a dark green matting and a matching die cut sentiment. I sat back and looked at the card, wondering “what else?”, and the answer was NOTHING!! The CAS design perfectly showcases the festive image!

Poinsettia Glow

Hi there 🙂 I hope everyone had a good Christmas!! I’m trying to get my cards all blogged, now that they’ve been received! This one is a fairly simple traditional one, featuring a pretty image from Sheepski Designs. I colored up Christmas Candle with my Copics, then cut it out with an oval die, fussy cutting the overhanging parts.

The background paper has little gold foil dots on it, so I decided to bring that into the rest of the card. I matted the image and background with gold mirror card, and die cut the sentiment from the same. A little bit of chunky gold glitter was added to the centres of the flowers 🙂
