Fa La Llama

Hi there πŸ™‚ When I saw this fun trio in the Di’s Digital Stamps store, I knew I just had to have them!! I colored up 3 Chilly Llamas with my Copics, then added some accents with Posca Pens.

I carefully positioned them so they’d be singing away from the centre of the die cut wreath. After getting everything lined up and on the die cut card base, I found just the word die I had to use, and used some sparkly blue paper to cut the main part, and some red for the shadow part. Some red glitter “berries” and a few blue sparkle music notes amongst the wreath branches finish this card off.

Owl Ornaments

Hi there πŸ™‚ Anyone that knows me, knows that I love owls, so I love making cards featuring them. This festive little guy is from Miss Daisy Stamps, another store that has closed. I colored him up with my Copics, and added a few touches with my white Posca, before cutting him out with an oval die.

I found the cute ornament paper that went well as a background. I also have this gorgeous ornament die that fit right in with the developing theme. After matting the image, I arranged and layered all the other components of the card. An inlaid sentiment strip die finished this card off.

Scottie Shaker

Hi there πŸ™‚ Every year, I make my sister a card that features a Scottie Dog. She has loved these pups since before I was born πŸ™‚ I did some browsing online, and found Booker the Scottie at Sweet November Stamps. He isn’t really a Christmas image, so I had to put him into a scene that was festive. I found this snowglobe image from DRS Designs in my stash, and merged Booker into the scene before printing it off.

I assembled the shaker, using some snowflake punches, and white cake sprinkles for the snow. Of course I had to use a plaid background paper when using a Scottie dog themed card, so found a pretty plaid in my paper stash that coordinated beautifully with the image. Some die cut snowflakes were scattered around the snowglobe to add to the wintery feel. A narrow red ribbon at the base of the snowglobe attaches the tag with the stamped sentiment. Some pearls in the centres of the die cut snowflakes finish this card off.

Wreck the Halls

Hi there πŸ™‚ A senior friend of mine adopted a kitty last year, after her other one crossed the rainbow bridge. I don’t think that she remembered what a ball of energy a kitten can be!! Her little Mikey is a real terror, but the smiles he brings to her face are just the best <3 I had to make a card for her with her little terror on it, so I used a cute image from Graciellie Designs. I used my Copics to color up the kitty from the Meowy Christmas digital set to look like Mikey, and added some sparkle to the hat for some festive bling.

I just got some new dies, so had to give a few of them a play on this card! I cut out a bunch of Christmas ornaments from the one set, and layered them on another piece of white paper to give a faux embossed look. I added little touches of Wink of Stella to them to add a bit of sparkle. I then framed this background with another new die cut, the paw print frame seemed to be perfect for this card! To finish off, I grabbed another new die, the sentiment, and after positioning it on the card, I added a more “correct” word in handwriting on a banner die. My friend knew just who the troublemaker on the card was when she received it!!

3 Chihuahuas

Hi there πŸ™‚ My nephew and his wife have a chihuahua furbaby, so, of course, I had to make a card for them with their beloved Molly on it. I had this image from Aurora Wings in my stash, and thought “what could be better than 1 Molly? 3 of course!”. I colored the image with my Copics, trying my best to match up little miss Molly’s markings. After adding a few accents with white Posca, I matted it with a Christmas green.

I die cut a swirly star shape and a few other stars, then positioned everything on a cool background paper. The sentiment was cut out twice to give a bit of dimension. Some gold glitter was added to the star die cuts and one of the stars in the image, just to give a bit of sparkle to the card. Molly in triplicate is just the cutest thing!!

Poinsettia Jar

Hi there πŸ™‚ I love poinsettias, but have pets, so don’t dare keep any in my home! Good thing I have my crafting to keep some of these beauties in my life. This gorgeous image is part of the Blessings Poinsettia set from Angie Blom Digital Designs. I colored it up with my Copics, adding a bit of white Posca to give the glass a more realistic effect, then cut it out with an oval die. A quick bit of Distress Inks give a bit of definition to the die cut edge.

I knew I wanted to use the poinsettia print paper that I’ve had in my stash for probably 15 years or more! I found a striped scrap of paper that went well with the other print, and cut it with a large banner die. I layered this on a black scalloped banner die cut, and assembled the card. The sentiment is from an old stamp set, and I cut it out with a smaller oval die, matting it with black as well. This card has such a warm, traditional feel to it.

Snowman Fun

Hi there πŸ™‚ It’s been a while since I’ve played with any images from the now closed Bugaboo Stamps. I had an idea for a slimline card design, and the Snowman Blocks were just perfect for my idea. I colored the 3 goofy snowmen up with my Copics, then fussy cut them out. I used a triple window die to cut out the parts they’d be peeking from, and carefully placed the snowmen before adding a snowy background that I’d made with my Posca pen. A quick die cut sentiment was added before placing the whole thing on a green card base.

Chickadees

Hi there πŸ™‚ I was wondering what I was going to do for a Christmas card for my kid, then thought of the nickname I’ve had for them since they were a baby…..my Chickadee <3 So, of course I had to go through my stamps and find the perfect image!! I found this pretty digital image in my Sparkle N’ Sprinkle (sadly, another store that has closed) file, and printed it off right away. After coloring the birds, I added a cloudy background with Distress Inks.

I embossed a piece of white card stock with a swirly patterned folder (couldn’t get the true depth of the embossing to show on my pic) and matted it with green. I cut the front of the card base to fit this piece, leaving the back part of the card a bit bigger. I die cut a leafy border, and placed it on the inside part of the back part, so it also bordered the front. After wrapping some twine around the embossed front piece, and popping on a die cut sentiment, I attached the image. I hope my Chickadee loves the card <3

Snowmies

Hi there πŸ™‚ I’ve been so busy making cards, baking (112 dozen cookies and bars), and all the other Christmas stuff, that my blogging has slid! Jan’s Digital Stamps has some of the most amazing Christmas images (and any other occasion, of course), and I fell in love with the My Snowmies set as soon as I saw it! I colored this cute trio up with my Copics, then fussy cut them out.

For the background, I got out my snowflake dies, and cut a bunch out of plain white cardstock, and shimmery white cardstock, then glued them to a plain white paper. It gives a cool faux embossed look, with a bit of extra oomph with the shimmery flakes. I die cut a red frame, then popped it on the background with some foam strips, then positioned the snowmen to sit on the bottom. This is one of the few cards I’ve made that has turned out as I’d originally envisioned it, and it’s got to go to someone extra special!!

Peace On Earth

Hi there πŸ™‚ I have a friend that loves angels, and what’s better than one? Three of Aurora Wings adorable Angel Sprites!! All of them can be found in Volume 3 of the Holiday Sprites Coloring Book. I colored up this musical trio with my Copics, then positioned them under a die cut frame. I layered everything over a pale blue stitched piece before attaching it to the card base. I used a darker blue banner cut as a backing for the layered gold and white sentiment. Some coordinating enamel dots and gold baubles finish this card off. Love how this card has super traditional images, but with the cool, non traditional color scheme, it comes off quite modern.
