Bringing Home the Tree

Hi there 🙂 I’m working feverishly at Christmas cards, because I wasn’t too smart, and left most of them to the last minute! This one features an image from Goha Digital Stamps. I colored this busy little gnome up with my Copics, and added a cloudy sky background, before cutting it out with a stitched border die. After layering some coordinating pieces of DP from my scrap bin, I added some twine and a die cut border sentiment. A rather quick card, that came together quite well, and used up some of my many scraps!!

Oh Christmas Tree

Hi there 🙂 I have a CAS slimline card to share today I used a festive Christmas tree image from Wink Wink Ink as the focal point. I colored Christmas Peace up with my Copics and added a few accents with white and gold Posca pens. I had to color the cat as a Torti, to look like my little hellraiser. I don’t think that a tree would last 5 minutes at my place with my busy little kitty, so I’m skipping out on one this year! I cut a slimline base out, centering the image. After adding a sentiment that was die cut from mirror card, I was done. With a busy image like this, I didn’t think the card needed any embellishments to detract.

Christmas Giraffe

Hi there 🙂 Another special sister card 🙂 One of my sisters is crazy for giraffes. It all started when April the giraffe was being watched so closely by the whole world, waiting for her to give birth. My sister has been hooked since, and has even made a trip to visit April! So, when I was going through my Christmas images, and saw this one, I knew who’s card it was going to be for!! Unfortunately, it’s not labelled with the artist’s name, so I can’t give credit – if anyone reading this knows, please tell me, so I can set it right!! I colored this handsome guy up with my Copics, adding a few touches with white Posca. I then fussy cut it out.

The best place for a giraffe image is on a slimline card, so after picking my wintery papers, I cut an aperture in the front, another one in white, to frame the image, then carefully placed the image so it was peeking out. I die cut a Christmas sentiment from sparkly (really, it is sparkly, lol) white paper, and added a few gems to finish the card off.

Mermaid Greetings

Hi there 🙂 It was recently my bestie’s birthday, and I wanted to make a special card for her. I like trying new folds for her card, and found an interesting one on Pinterest to try. Somewhere along the line, I made a wrong cut or fold, and ended up with this!! I really like the result, even though I have no idea how it came to be, lol. I used a beautiful image from Jannafairyart, which can be found in this colouring book, and colored her up with Copics.

I have so many sea themed dies, that this was a fun time to use some of them! I added a bit of Spectrum Noir glitter pen to the sea shells to give them some shimmer. A scattering of pearls and acrylic dew drops amongst the shells and bubbles gave a pretty touch of dimension. A stamped sentiment banner finishes the card off.

Christmas Scottie

Hi there 🙂 Every year, I make a card for my sister who loves Scottie dogs that features….well, a Scottie Dog, of course!! For this year, I downloaded a free silhouette of a Scottie, then merged a poinsettia image from Ike’s Art onto it. I colored the flowers up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out. I used this cool sketch from Cheerful Sketches for my layout, and flipped it around.

I cut the base with an octagon shaped die (didn’t have a hexagon, so….next best thing!) out of red card stock. Every Scottie needs some plaid somewhere, so the strips in the background had to be that print. To back the image, I die cut a pretty rectangle, then layered things up, adding a stamped sentiment strip. For the decorations, I die cut some poinsettias, and added a tiny bit of gold glitter for the centres. I’m loving how this turned out, with the very traditional colors, and the unexpected shape 🙂

Sympathy Assortment

Hi, I don’t usually make a post featuring more than one project, but I’m making an exception here. I vowed to blog all the cards I made this year, and with Christmas fast approaching, I have to take a few shortcuts!! I recently got an order for sympathy cards, a real challenge for me, as it is for a lot of card makers! Of course I didn’t have any on hand so I got to work, and here they are 🙂

This one is a more masculine card, featuring an image from DRS Designs, called Long Tall Cattails. I colored it up with my Copics, then blended in some Distress Ink in the background. I stamped a nice sentiment, then tied a ribbon around the bottom before adhering it to a plaid background paper. There was some gold foil lines in the plaid, so I punched some tiny dragonflies from gold mirror card to finish this off.

Polkadoodles Craft Challenge – Week 48 ATG

This one features a favorite image from Sheepski Designs. I thought Forget Me Knot would be lovely on a sympathy card, as it expresses a sentiment with it’s name. I colored this with my Copics, then cut it out with an oval die. I matted the image, and die cut the sentiment in a pale gray, to coordinate with the woodgrain background paper.

This card features an image from Sami Stamps, which has sadly closed up shop. When printing it, I added the sentiment as well. After coloring the image, I found a background paper with a subtle print, and matted everything in silver mirror card. A simple line of silver pearls added the finishing touch.

This card has a religious feel to it, with the praying hands image, that I got years ago from a store called Stichy Bear Stamps – another one that has closed. I colored the image up with my Copics, then fussy cut it out. I mounted it on an oval cut from one side of double sided DP. I used the print on the other side for the background, and added a strip of embossed grey cardstock. The sentiment was hand stamped. Before gluing all the layers together, I inked all the edges of the pieces for a bit of definition.

Dare 2B Artzy – November – Non Birthday

This last card took a few turns from what I was envisioning, but ended up being my favorite of the bunch!! I used a rose image from A Day For Daisies (not finding it in the store anymore, though), and colored it up with my Copics. Before I colored, I stamped and embossed the sentiment. I wanted a white on white effect, but my white embossing powder looked more cream on the stark white background paper – so that re-defined how the card was going to look! After matting the image with a cream cardstock, it was still needing “something”, so I used a MS lace border punch (!!!) to edge both the image and the mat.

Cookies for Santa

Hi there! It’s time for another challenge at Creative Fingers 🙂 All of our challenges are ATG, with a chance to win a fabulous prize from our sponsor. This time, our sponsor is our very own Tindaloo!! I made my card using a freebie image from a coloring book from Break Free Coloring Books. After printing it up card size, I colored it with my Copics, and fussy cut it out.

I used the sketch from Creative Sketchy Girls current challenge for my layout, and got to use up a bunch of my snippets of Christmas papers!

I followed the sketch pretty closely, other than moving the thin strip, which I used a sentiment die cut for, a little lower. I also added a few candy cane die cuts just for fun!

Autumn Splendor

Hi there 🙂 It was recently my sister’s 75th birthday, and I wanted to make her a special card. I was going through my images, and came across this beauty, a coloring page, from Paper Fun. I printed off Autumn Vibes in a card size (roughly 3×5″), and colored it with my Copics. I wanted a fun fold card, but nothing that would confuse a non-cardmaker too badly!!! I decided on a simple Z fold. I stamped and gold embossed the kraft card base with a rubber background stamp.

I made the inside panel a teeny bit smaller than the main image, and matted it in the same green after adding the stamped and die cut sentiment. A strip of lace, with an edge of green, runs through the card, and adds an extra feminine touch. Some gold pearls are the final touch.

Aqua Florals

Hi there 🙂 I’m a bit late with this DT inspiration, but I’ve been busy dying. I think I got every bug and virus going around all at once, and managed to sleep for almost a week!! Feeling better now, so I better play catch up (low energy catch up, that is!) Our new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers is on now, and we are so lucky to be sponsored by Anne Constantly Carding!!

I used one of the beautiful images from Flower Fun Coloring Pages. There are 7 gorgeous floral pages in this set, which makes for a lot of crafty fun! After printing the image at card size, I colored it with my Copics. I was in need of sympathy cards, so went that way with it. I tore a piece of vellum, then adhered a die cut sentiment over top. Some gold pearls were all the embellishment this card needed.

Rainbow Kitty

Hi there 🙂 It’s time for another new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers. Our sponsor this time is our very own Angelique, and she’s offering this cool travel themed stamp set as a prize.

Recently, a friend lost her beloved torti kitty, and I made this sympathy card for her. I thought this image from Wink Wink Ink was perfect for this kind of card. I colored Angel Kitty with my Copics, trying to copy the lovely markings of a tortoise shell cat, then fussy cut it out.

I wanted to implement a rainbow, and hearts. After rummaging around in my stacks and stacks of paper, I finally decided to make my own heart print paper, so stamped a scrap of paper with a little heart stamp, then colored random hearts in rainbow colors. I die cut the rainbow using some small scraps of paper in the appropriate colors. After layering everything together on a pretty pink background, and adding a die cut sentiment, I thought it still needed a bit more. Some die cut clouds with a quick brush of Wink of Stella were the perfect finishing touch.
