Cheers!

Hi there! I was SO thrilled and honored to be picked as a Top 3 in Mo’s Digital Pencil challenge, as part of the distinction was to be asked to be a Guest Designer for an upcoming challenge. πŸ™‚ Mo’s images were among the first digital stamps that I fell in love with, and some of the only ones that I use over and over and over again, so I was super excited!!! The challenge theme is ATG with an option of “For the Guys”- with a Mo image. I know that many find masculine cards difficult, but there are so many Mo images that are PERFECT for guys of any age….check them out!!! πŸ™‚ I used this endearing Dwarf…(Dwarf 7, to be precise….he’s got a few cute friends πŸ˜‰ lol). I colored him with my Copics and trimmed the opposite corners of the image so they were rounded.

I forgot to pick out paper before coloring him (a new habit that I’ve been trying to establish….but not quite a habit yet!), so had to rummage around my papers….good thing I have enough to last for about 52 lifetimes, I can find prints that I like….barely….hehehe. I cut pieces and mats for said pieces and arranged and rearranged them until I was happy with the layout. I really don’t like to used a ton of embellishments on a card with an amazing image, so I kept things rather simple. I cut the buntings with Little B dies, and the simple sentiment was punched….yes, I still have ALL my punches!!! The card needed a little something else, so I grabbed some baubles and tinted them a coordinating color with my Copics. Then, cuz I can’t leave well enough alone, I doodled around some of the edges πŸ™‚ I hope you can check out the challenge, and share some Mo works with us…..warning, once you start with these images, it’s hard to quit!!!

I’d like to enter the following challenges with this card:

Cute Card Thursday – #584 Masculine

As You Like It Challenge – His or Hers……I love making both, and seem to make more “her” cards, but I love love the challenge of making a masculine card!!! I find I have to be more inventive with embellishments and style, and I love a good challenge πŸ™‚

Retirement Lilies

Well, it’s that time of month again…..time for a new challenge to start at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group. All of our challenges are ATG with a Sheepski Designs image, but there’s also an optional theme, if you with to use it. This month, our optional theme is Ribbons and Bows. The beautiful Lily Jug caught my eye as soon as Andrea put it in the shop, so I decided to use it for this month’s project πŸ™‚ I colored it with my Copics and then fussy cut it out.

Since I’m a Saskatchewan (Canada) girl, I chose to color these to resemble Prairie Lilies, our provincial flower and one of my favorite wild flowers πŸ™‚ I popped the image up on a black die cut shape, then placed it on the backing, which I’d wrapped with sheer ribbon, after snipping the corners to make for a smooth wrap, lol. I added a pretty fluffy bow and a die cut sentiment to finish this off.

I’d like to enter this in the following:

The Wolf

Hi there πŸ™‚ * I’m 2 days late in getting this posted, because I forgot how to schedule blog posts, lol. I’m here with an inspiration card for the current challenge at Creative Fingers πŸ™‚ All of our challenges are ATG, and we always have a fabulous sponsor. This time the sponsor is Morgan’s Artworld. She kindly provided images for the DT to use on our projects. In an ambitious moment, I chose The Wolf to work with……oy…..fur :O I managed to conquer the fur with my Copics, then used an assortment of Distress Inks to ink the background and edges of the image.

I used the fabulous sketch at Cheerful Sketches for the layout, using an assortment of natural colored and patterned papers.

The sentiment was printed on my computer and cut out with a fishtail banner die….as was the piece behind it πŸ™‚ I added 2 antique gold brads in the top corners to balance things out. Despite the initial grumbling at the fur element on this card, I’m really happy with the final result πŸ™‚

Pirate Notes

Hi there! It’s Sunday again, which means that it’s time for me to share some inspiration from Ching-Chou Kuik πŸ™‚ Both the Facebook and Blog challenge themes this month are Lovely Lace, however, the DT was given an additional challenge this week, which is to use buttons πŸ™‚ I used one of the newer images in Ching-Chou’s Etsy store …… Pirate,Roses, Skeleton. I thought it was time for me to make something other than a card, so I went with a sticky note holder. I colored the image with my Copics, then die cut the bottom edge. While I was hand stitching the lace on, I stabbed myself with the needle. I didn’t think there was an issue, until I noticed blood on the white part around the image!!!! So many mishaps are solved by stippling, and this is one of them!! LOL I attached the buttons and this project was finished πŸ™‚

Good Luck Fairy

Wow, this week has flown by!! It’s been so busy at work and a lot of personal obligations…..I have been swamped and struggle to keep up!!! Oh well, always have seemed to manage before so I’ll just keep plodding along, lol. I have my second inspiration project for the current Facebook (and blog) challenge for Ching-Chou Kuik. Our theme for the month is Lovely Lace, but the DT was challenged to used Embossing this week. I used the adorable Hydrangea Dollie for my project…one of many cute dollie images in the store πŸ™‚

After coloring her with my Copics, I fussy cut her out and set her aside while I worked on the rest of the card. I decided to go with a shaped card this time, and cut the shape and the teal frame out with a Spellbinder’s die. The white embossed piece was done with a Spellbinder’s folder.

I punched out the hydrangea flowers, that top the lace bow, with an old Martha Stewart punch that I have. A simple die cut sentiment finishes this off πŸ™‚

Butterflies and Roses

Hi there πŸ™‚ It’s already the first Sunday in May (although it certainly doesn’t feel like it here…BRRRR), which means it’s time for me to share my first inspiration project for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge this month. Our theme, as well as the blog’s theme, this month is “Lovely Lace”. Most of us have a piece of lace – or two – or two hundred – in our stashes, and lace really compliments these images beautifully. I used Butterfly Charm for my card, and colored it with my Copics.

I had picked out the background print before starting to color, which helped me coordinate (this is something new for me, and I’m still quite excited at how slick it works for matching things up, lol). I found a cute card sketch on Pinterest, and dug around to find scraps to make up the other layers. The tan piece was embossed with a Spellbinders embossing folder. The lace was both the perfect color and length for my card…..woohoo!!! I added some roses that went with the image beautifully and die cut a butterfly with a Tattered Lace die. A few pearls that I colored to match the color scheme and a small stamped sentiment finished this project off.

I’d like to enter the following with this card:

Harlequin

Hi there πŸ™‚ I was honored to be asked to be a Guest Designer for the Addicted to Stamps Challenge this month πŸ™‚ The theme is Flowers, which should end up being a very popular one!!! I love flowers, both in my images and as embellishments, although I do tend to purchase and hoard my pretties more than I should!!! For my card, I used an image by my favorite, Mitzi, of Aurora Wings. Harlequinade can be found in the Etsy store HERE, as well as HERE in the Digi Shop. After coloring the image with my Copics, I tore around the edges and inked them with Distress Ink. I added Liquid Pearls to the image in a few different sittings, so the blobs didn’t run into each other – too much, lol.

I used both a Tim Holtz harlequin die and stencil for the background. I inked the stencil with the same color ink that I used to edge the image and then layered everything over a charcoal mat. I dug into my flower stash and found some yellow roses and a pretty orange blossom (from Petal Lu), that I arranged with some die cut greenery and some swirls of pearls. A few pearls in two of the corners finish the card off πŸ™‚

I’m thinking that this will be a great card for one of my sisters’ birthdays, which is coming up soon….as she loves yellow roses πŸ™‚

Ocean Friends

Well, I’m slowly getting my cards finished and blogging done, after a second bout with spring colds and allergies!! I think I’ve had more than my share of “ick”, and now it’s time to get down to business and let the summer fun begin πŸ™‚ When I saw that Tiddly Inks was having a showcase challenge with these adorable mermaid friends, I just HAD to participate πŸ™‚ Christy made this image, from the Little Valentines Mermaid Set available as a freebie for the duration of the challenge…. because I’ve been sick, I’m cutting it close with the deadline, but you can see if it’s still available HERE. I colored the little friends up with my Copics, then fussy cut them out and set them aside while I assembled the rest of the card.

I had picked out the background paper before coloring, as it reminded me of swirls of ocean currents. I really wanted to use some of my new dies….designs by Hero Arts, Avery Elle, and Elizabeth Craft….. With a busy background print and the cute image, I decided to keep it simple with the die cuts and do them all in white. I grabbed the image and glued it on a blue oval that was the same size as the frame. I popped up the frame a bit, added some curvy pieces at the bottom, then arranged the coral and seaweed around this. I stamped a simple sentiment on a fishtail banner, and bent it to fit over and around the frame and image.

I had a lot of fun with this card, and am super pleased with the end result πŸ™‚

Baby Love

Hi there πŸ™‚ Time is certainly flying lately….or again….or still!!! Today marks the start of another ATG challenge at Creative Fingers Challenge Blog. The Design Team had a lot of fun creating inspiration pieces featuring some of the amazing images provided by our sponsor Milk Coffee Digital Stamps. I was given Soya and Love Fruit, and decided to make a baby congratulations card with her. I colored the image with my Copics, sticking to very soft pastel shades (so hard for me!!!).

I cut it out with a circle die, then matted it with a lacy yellow circle die cut. I used paper pieces from a paper pack that was a complimentary gift from a magazine years ago. The soft patterns and colors lent themselves perfectly to the theme of the card. I layered the various prints up, after cutting some fishtail banners out of 2 of the prints. I die cut the sentiment twice with a Tattered Lace die, and layered them to give some dimension. After tying a pretty white bow (!!!!!!!), I placed a Petal Lu blossom and some yellow curlies in the centre. To balance everything out, I colored a couple pearls to match the yellows used in the card, and affixed them to the corner.

Just Married

Hi there πŸ™‚ I’m finally getting caught up on my blogging, now that I have the changes on here figured out and almost mastered – HA!!! This card is my inspiration for the current challenge at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group challenge. All of our challenges are ATG, but there’s always an optional theme thrown in to help you on your way, if needed. This month, the option is Celebrations. Since some of the weddings that I’ve attended have been the most rip-roaring celebrations ever, I decided to make a wedding card. I chose the image “Daisy“, and colored it with Copics. I used both a stitched rectangle and stitched cloud die to cut the image out. About a year ago, I found a really nice paper pad at the dollar store, and used some of the prints from that pad on here. Anyone that knows me, knows that my very least favorite color is peach….but that was the perfect accent color for this project, so I went with it for matting and the die cuts. I added pearl strips to the corners and center strip to finish the card off.
