Daisy Delight

Hi there!  My last blog post for the weekend…..and I’m caught up for a bit, lol.  Sunday is my day to share some inspiration for the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group challenge.  This month, our theme is Spring/Easter (same as the blog theme FYI).  The DT was also challenged this week to add some flowers.  So here’s my card 🙂  I used the gorgeous image, Field of Daisies, and colored it with Copics (with the polka dots on the dress done in white and silver gel pens) before using a pretty, lacy rectangle die to cut it out.

I’m really into the blue/white/yellow color combo this spring, and this card was another chance to use it 🙂  The background paper was a pretty print, that was subtle enough to really compliment both the image and the row of daisies and bow that anchored the image.

Some die cut leaves, blue butterflies and matting in the same color finished this happy spring card off 🙂

As You Like It – Favorite..Dies or Stencils?  Dies!  Why?  With the money that I have invested in dies, I would feel silly saying anything else!! Seriously, I love how a die cut gives a beautiful finish to a card, and is easy to match up with the rest of the design 🙂

Smile….It’s Your Birthday!

Hi 🙂  It’s been so long since I’ve had a play with an All Dressed Up image, I figured it was high time to do just that!!  I have a few photographer friends, so ‘Smile, It’s Your Birthday‘ is a perfect image to make a card for one of them 🙂  I colored her up with my Copics, and added some doodles around the edges.

I had picked up a paper pad a while back with some funky prints in it, and the camera print was perfect  here.  I balanced the bold camera print with a more subtle foiled star and some blue CS that I dotted myself with gel pens.  I die cut the film strip from a piece of gold mirror paper to match the shine of the foil stars.  Initially, I had darker pink flowers on this, but it was too over powering, so I tore them off and put the pale pink blooms in place.  I got a super good deal on a collection of wooden cut outs a while back, and one of the shapes was a camera.  I colored it black, and attached it to a piece of wire, so it “floated” above the blooms.

A few shiny gold stars on the blue piece balanced everything out and finished the card off 🙂

Forget Me Knot

Good morning 🙂  We have a new challenge at the Sheepski Designs Facebook group.  All of our challenges are ATG, but there’s also an optional theme if you need a bit of a push with the inspiration 🙂  This month, the optional theme is Layers.  What a great way to use up some of the smaller pieces of paper that you may have laying around!  I used the gorgeous image Forget Me Knot #175 for my card.  These little blossoms have a special place in my heart, because they were the pattern on my mom’s fine china….I thought of many “fancy” meals while making this card <3  I colored the image with my Copics, then cut it out with a stitched rectangle die.

I actually picked out the paper pieces BEFORE coloring this time – something I hardly ever do (then struggle to find stuff to match! LOL).  I’m really getting into the blue/yellow/white color combo lately, as it’s so fresh and happy.  I added some white gel pen stitches on the one piece to reflect the stitching in the die. For an extra something in the corners, I used an old corner punch of mine.  I die cut the sentiment and added a few white dots with Nuvo drops, and this card was done!!! I hope you can join us in our FB group challenge!!

Steamin’ Friendship

I’m trying to catch up with my blogging after a few curve balls that life has thrown at me lately!  I made this card for a swap, and decided to use one of my many KennyK stamps.  I purchased a whole whack of images when Kenny’s store closed down, and haven’t used even a fraction of them!! I haven’t done a steampunk theme project for ages, so Inspector Em was the perfect image to change that!!  I colored her with Copics, adding some accents and highlights with gold and white gel pens.

After fussy cutting the image out I popped it on some striped paper that I’d distressed and inked.  I layered pieces of damask patterned paper (from the same collection as the stripes), and some subtle printed purple, that I’d embossed with a gear theme Sizzix embossing folder.  I die cut a number of gears with some Echo Park dies and arranged them around the image.  A strip of black lace, topped with a chain die cut (Elizabeth Craft) added a bit more texture and interest.

The sentiment is a ….. RUB ON….. !!!!!!! And it actually rubbed on, after sitting in a folder for how many years!!!

Easter Chicks

Hi there!! I’m here to share my DT card for the new ATG challenge at Creative Fingers Challenge.  We are being sponsored by the generous Morgan’s Artworld this time around 🙂  I used Chicken With Hatching Chicken for my card.  These little fluffs remind me of when I was little and we got new baby chicks in the spring…..it was so super exciting, I just loved holding them and feeling their softness on my cheek <3  I colored the image with my Copics, then cut it out to fit the pretty die cut mat.

I cut the edge of the pretty spring green gingham print paper with a pretty curved scallop die.  After stamping the Easter sentiment with a stamp from a free set I got with a magazine, I started digging for embellishments.  I found the purple blooms, which I layered up and finished off with a Fimo centre that I made.  The pink blossoms were die cut and I added a blob of yellow 3D paint for the centres.  A few green leaf sprays and some purple matting finished the card off 🙂

I hope you can join us at Creative Fingers with whatever you’ve created!!

Stars

This is a different style of card, for me.  One of my best friends recently lost her son.  The anguish that she feels touches me deeply, and I would give anything to turn back the hands of time, or in the very least, take the pain away, just for a moment.  I saw this legend, and knew I had to use it on the card.  I used a star background die to cut the navy blue background, and layered it on a very pale gray CS.  I printed the sentiment using matching navy ink, and placed it over the background.  I used ONE gold sparkly star, and inlaid it into the background, to represent her son.

I hope that when she looks out at the sky at night, she remembers this legend and gets some small comfort. <3

Spring Monochrome

Well this is a bit late, due to some internet difficulties!

Good morning!! Half way through March already, and spring is DEFINITELY springing here in Saskatchewan!! 🙂  What a difference it makes in people’s moods!  I have another inspiration card for Ching-Chou Kuik’s Facebook challenge, with the theme of Spring/Easter (the blog challenge theme is the same, so be sure to enter both places!!!).  This week, the DT was challenged to make a monochrome card. I had a bit of difficulty thinking of something, until I found this pussy willow print paper in my stash 🙂  I colored Spring Nocturne, from this lovely set, with my Copics, sticking to tones of muted brown.

I actually had some glitter in the right colors to add to the flowers, to add a bit of zing.  I matted both the image and the background with a dark brown CS.  I tied the big fluffy bow with some tulle type ribbon that I recently received from a Facebook friend in a card swap.  I kept looking at the card, before realizing that this was all that was needed…..not quite CAS, but not overly complicated, either 🙂

Celebrate Spring

Hi there 🙂  I’m writing this with the faintest hope that spring may actually be springing here!!! I really hope I didn’t jinx the nice weather by writing that!!! With Spring approaching, we have a very timely challenge theme at the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook group this month – Spring/Easter.  As a matter of fact, the blog challenge has the same theme, which doubles your chances at winning some gorgeous images…..you just have to enter 🙂  The Etsy store has so many gorgeous spring and/or Easter images, you will be spoiled for choice!!  For my card, I chose Spring In the Air, and colored it in a bright, spring color scheme with my Copics.  I found some coordinating printed paper pieces, and a bright spring green CS.  I die cut a circle design, and adhered some pink blooms with rhinestone centres.  The sentiment was stamped and die cut into a banner.  For a bit more interest, I doodled some white dots on the edges of the print papers before layering everything all up.

Luck

Hi there!! I hope everyone is doing well, and either looking forward to warmer weather in the “polar vortex” area, or cooling off in the parts of the world that have had the crazy heat wave!!! Over at Creative Fingers, we are starting a new ATG challenge, which is being sponsored by the lovely Angelique, who has a lovely stamp set on offer!

This would be a great addition to any crafter’s collenction!!!  For my card, I used a Power Poppy image….it’s been wayyy too long since I’ve worked with one of Marcella’s images…..and this image “Wish You Luck” is just perfect for this time of year.  I colored it up with my Copics and then fussy cut it out.

I found some green paper pieces, and layered it up with some burlap, adhesive lace trim, and a doily die cut.  The darker green piece needed a little more “something” so I added some faux stitching and then a few brads that mirror the buttons in the image.  I added the fussy cut image to the doily.  I printed the sentiment that came with the image on vellum, and attached it to overlay the bottom layers.  I love this sentiment, as it can be used for any number of occasions – so I’ll leave the inside blank until one of these occasions arises 🙂

Dragon Babies

Hi there, and happy Monday, and happy March!!! ALREADY!!!! It’s unreal how fast time flies when you’re not watching it!!  We are mid-way through the current challenge at the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog, and it’s such a fun theme, with so many interpretations.

Check out the post at the beginning of the challenge, as well as the mid-challenge inspiration, for all kinds of cool projects from our DTs.  I guarantee it will get you thinking about rainbows (or songs, or movies….or…)  I took the theme quite literally, and colored the Baby Dragons image (found HERE in the Digi Shop, and HERE at the Etsy store) in bright, rainbow colors with my Copic markers.

I fussy cut them out after coloring, so I could place them on the raised centre part of a lattice die cut frame. I used the same color markers and blending solution to make the background that carries through with the rainbow theme.  The sentiment was computer generated, cut into a banner, and popped up with foam.

Since this card was going together so nicely, and not causing me any grief whatsoever, I decided to “fix” that, and place pearls at the intersecting sections of the lattice. I’m loving the bright and cheerful look of this card, to celebrate the double joy of twins 🙂
